Did you use diamond stones to reprofile that zirc?

Removing the chips and setting the new bevel was done with a Tormek T7 fitted with an SB-250 Black Silicon stone, refining & convexing with a Paper Wheel coated with 15 micron diamond compound, and semi-polishing with a second Paper Wheel coated with 6 micron diamond compound.

I gotta be honest, I wasn't very impressed until I caught that it's ceramic. That's pretty awesome. I bet that thing holds that edge for a loooong time.

Time will tell how long it will hold this sharpness (did some testing with it):

Also cut some toilet paper with it:

Hi Mr. kwakster!

Your results are above awesomeness!
:D I've always found it tricky when trying to improve a ceramic edge to something below 20° inclusive.

Hi LC Kid :-)

I haven't found a ceramic kitchen knife yet that will hold up to even careful daily use with a 20 degrees inclusive edge.
Currently testing an expensive white ceramic kitchen knife, but i already had to increase the edge angle from 25 degrees inclusive to 30 degrees inclusive because it kept microchipping at that angle, even during careful use on a good wooden cutting board.
The chips were so small they could only be seen through my magnifying glass, but they were there.
I have better hopes for this black knife, but the proof of the pudding is as always in the eating.

Just finished sharpening this small ceramic backlock folder without any markings (probably made by Böker)
This well made knife had practically no edge and no point, and even opening mail with it was difficult.
The new edge fits in the 30 degrees inclusive slot on my Tormek angle gauge, is slightly convex, and can shave the hair on my leg in both directions.
I used the Tormek Black Silicon stone graded to around 1000 grit for reprofiling, followed by diamond compounds 15, 6, and 3 micron, all on dedicated Paper Wheels.
