kiddo took a field trip to some of our favorite hiking grounds. Brought some supplies to make things extra fun for our group. Showed them how magnesium bars and ferro rods worked. Every kid had to try making sparks for themselves, lol.

Going to park my Camel for a while, honed it up nice and Razor like and stuck it away. Got my new Manix 2XL with Jade G10 and M4 steel out this afternoon, had to give my hones the workout from the factory 17 dps to a 15 dps and all the way to a polished finish.
The polished bevels on the M4 blade looks kind of out there, since the flat ground blade of the M4 is a little more coarse as compared to other steels. Either way this knife is sharp and on board for a looksee into the M4 and what it's about. Not ever had this before.

M4 is awesome. I always felt like it was really easy to get very sharp for how nice the edge holding and toughness are. One of my favorite carbon steels.Jeb wrote: ↑Thu Apr 03, 2025 7:06 pmGoing to park my Camel for a while, honed it up nice and Razor like and stuck it away. The humpback rescues were the first straight edge SE knives I ever tried. Once my index finger laid into the forward contour, I knew this was a keeper.

The C14 Rescue before 2006 (maybe earlier) had this humpback feature that I have always found to be the knife's best feature. The 1" forward section of chisel ground PE is also very handy. It's the benefits of sheepsfoot and an SE wharncliffe.Meadowlark wrote: ↑Thu Apr 03, 2025 11:24 pmWhat model is this with the hawkbill and what version rescue is it?
Nice!
