What is your opinion on the authenticity of this Spyderco knife? The same seller has numerous items (Spyderco included) and since I'm not a knife expert but I do question the authenticity I would like to see what anyone here thinks about it. Thoughts? Thanks!

Hey all, I'm new to the Forum and just made a post which is waiting to be authorized so sorry for doing a double post . I just went through the eBay listing (link below) and looked at the pictures again and now I noticed on the blade it says "China" but then the box has made in the USA, so I think I answered my own question but I would still like to bring this to the attention of the Spyderco r
Rep. Since I believe there are numerous fakes being sold by this "company". They've been selling on eBay since 2013 and kind of brag about all their listings so I'm pretty disappointed that type of person has been getting away with what I think is fraud for such a long time. Also before finding this forum I sent an email to the seller via eBay to ask them if he purchased the knife directly from Spyderco and I'm waiting for his answer.

Welcome.
The box says made in China because that model is in fact made in China

Wow, ok, that's news to me but I don't know much. Just a distinction--the box says made in USA but the knife has China stamped on it, so that's a bit strange.

The box says “Made in China”.

You are correct, my error. I must've confused it with another picture, apologies. I suppose some are still made in the USA, is that correct? I also saw they use other places, such as japan, to make their knives. I suppose Outsourcing and then shipping them is much less expensive
This box, link below, says "something something USA " but the knife is stamped China. I am not sure what the two words are before USA. Perhaps I'm completely wrong about that store selling counterfeit knives in which case I feel pretty bad for the accusations if I am wrong.

Hi, JuddG:
Welcome to our forum. We manufacture in 5 countries: USA, Japan, Italy, Taiwan, and China. Our earliest knives were manufactured in Japan. It's not easy to stand-up a manufacturing facility for knives, so it took some time before we began making knives in the US. Since that time, we've continuously strived to increase our US production. Still, we've forged strong relationships with our makers around the world, and we value the incredible talent they bring to the Spyderco product line.
Regarding outsourcing, it's definitely not "much less expensive."
The Uptern is made in China as part of our Value Folders. I believe what you see on the box is Spyderco Knives & Accessories, Golden, CO, USA, where we're located. It does not represent the country of origin of the product.
I hope this helps.
Kristi

Note sure if this has been posted. Seeing a lot of “kits” on eBay that are clearly fake. One example:

Fakes, Counterfeits, and Knockoff are fact of life in 2025, most come from ROC, they do not respect law protecting intellectual property.
Nuff said.

Hi.I received a Spyderco Tenacious as a gift and I'm a bit confused and have some doubts if it's a fake. The box came without a label with the model number and barcode. Everything else including the warranty card/manual, sticker and the knife itself looks very trustworthy. Therefore, I would like to ask if you could help me determine whether this is a real Spyderco or a fake. I'm adding a link to the photos, unfortunately I can't upload them here, they say they're too big.

What do you think about this seller, the prices are very attractive.
He has Spyderco Civilian C12GS for $261.38, which is 50% of the price of this knife in Poland

Brunt Workwear are selling Manix 2s with their name on it. Smh. This is clearly illegal.

I’m new here , so i apologize if this has already been posted. The fakes are sold on temu apparently too . I’d say they are pretty easy to spot when holding one . Not sure if this is the place to share, but I wanted to spread awareness to this problem that seems to be getting worse.

Hello, I’m relatively new to spyderco. I’ve fallen in love with the brand and have since purchased 6 knives (2 para 2s, 2 para 3s a Manix 2 and a shaman.) I just got my para 3 in 15v and noticed the box says “US MADE” and my other boxes say “MADE IN USA” I tried to research the topic but couldn’t find anything. I’ve heard so much about fakes and clones it made me nervous. Is this normal? Is it because it’s a sprint run? Thanks in advance.

That is normal. But if you're concerned post some pictures of the knife. It's usually very easy to tell a counterfeit if you know what to look for

China is not our friend. If you think it is, well IMHO, you have not been a victim yet.

I’ve seen it both ways on the boxes at the local Spyderco dealer’s retail shop.
