My vote is for Spyderco to not give them anymore exclusives. They are taking production time from kw's yo2 and m2xl exclusives and preventing pm2s from getting to the market just so they can turn around and charge 50 percent more than a reputable dealer for their exclusives. It is obvious this doesn't sit well with the majority of us. Let the dealers who take better care of their customers get this valuable production time at Golden.
With that logic I now understand why you don't get it. Also you should maybe educate yourself on the alternate meanings of Jihad.FCM415 wrote:So to recap, some think that it's ok for BBS as a official dealer to peddle their exclusives on Ebay as an auction lined alongside secondary market flippers at prices going beyond $400.The most recent of BBS' actions that others including myself feel is underhanded.
This is a forum and those defending BBS is just as guilty as it takes two to tango in a discussion. If BBS proponesnts weren't there, there wouldn't me any back in forth, and what would remain would only be facts about BBS.
Discussing a company/dealer as a topic is not against forum rules. Does it have to be positive all the time? Heck, I have nothing but positive things to say about practically any other dealer out there including Amazon as a Spyderco seller in my experience. As far as Sal's no footprints policy, it's easy to throw that around isn't it? WE ARE GIVING OUR FEEDBACK ABOUT THE SITUATION, SHARING OUR THOUGHTS. People who approve BBS' actions and attempt to turn it into a us against them have a hand in this also. My concern is BBS and their business practices and not name calling so take that and digest it.
Yeah, but it's not like Spyderco is only selling their entire product line to this one dealer.
This is like me picking 1,000 peaches, and one guy wanting me to write "BOB" on the side of 50 peaches. After that, because of marketing, everyone wants to buy the peaches with "BOB" on the side of them more than the rest.

Not just some think this. But Spyderco thinks this. If BBS has violated some ethical agreement that Spyderco has in place, then I am confident Sal and Co. can deal with it like the professionals they are.FCM415 wrote:So to recap, some think that it's ok for BBS as a official dealer to peddle their exclusives...

The whole grab the torch and pitchfork thing you got going is silly IMO. Can't you see that your complaint isn't about BBS but it is about Spyderco? How would you feel if people came to your house and started questioning passionatly every choice you make? Yeah I know it's an "open forum". But that doesn't mean that just because it can be discussed that it should be discussed. Discretion seems to be completly lost on the internet.

I would personally put down, upfront, the cost of a 300 knife exclusive of s110v Millie, and pocket $100k. If that's a risk, then let us all in on it.
It is easy to talk about what one should, could or would do.

You want it to be about Spyderco but it simply is not. BBS requested this commission as an official dealer who knows how long ago and they got it because they ponied up the cash for it....jtoler_9 wrote:Not just some think this. But Spyderco thinks this. Spyderco did not set these prices BBS did.
Spyderco did not set the terms of conditions like insurance, and shipping. What Spyderco dealer states on their site that if it gets lost in the mail, they aren't liable but BBS?
Spyderco did not put the stipulation for BBS to not honor exchanges and returns. In fact Spyderco urges customers to go through the dealer route for exchanges and returns...Yeah oops.
Spyderco urges customers to go through the dealer for warranty issues within the dealer's return window if possible. Oops. BBS doesn't cover warranty issues.
Spyderco DID NOT put these knives on Ebay as an auction. Legal but in VERY BAD TASTE FOR BBS.
"Going to my house and questioning everything I say"
Bad example as I don't question everything anyone says.
"Just one would be nice"
Are you wearing one of those eye blockers horses wear? Most of my participation on the forums are positive.
In the end, Spyderco is learning about BBS and time will tell the outcome. There is nothing that Spyderco has done in this situation that I can fault them with. A dealer requested for an exclusive and they got it. Some of us do hope that they refrain from giving BBS exclusives of knives of this caliber in the future...That is not questioning what they do, it is a request/wish in a public forum.
Keep replying, this will keep going, remember it takes two to tango. To me its about BBS, to you its about me.

Sounds like you have it all figured out. You must be much closer to Spyderco than I am because you seem to have your finger on the pulse of their inner workings.FCM415 wrote: Spyderco did not set these prices...

So what happens when you don't get your way here and Spyderco sells another one of your favorites through Bento? Who will it be about then?
Isn't that kinda the point of a forum?FCM415 wrote:Keep replying, this will keep going,...
No, I dont have it all figured out. I was responding to your assertion that it is Spyderco's fault when it clearly is not.jtoler_9 wrote:Sounds like you have it all figured out. You must be much closer to Spyderco than I am because you seem to have your finger on the pulse of their inner workings.

What happens if BBS commissions another one? It hasnt happened yet so I dont know.
That is the point of the forum, just making it clear that opposing viewpoints are just as responsible for this to escalate beyond BBS.

23 pages and they chose to keep it open.
As Taz has said earlier on this thread, discussing the topic and the dealer is open. Personal attacks, not so much. I'm talking about BBS and not about other people.
People talking about Jihad etc etc.

Just like they chose to sell another limited edition to Bento. Now your getting it.FCM415 wrote:23 pages and they chose to keep it open.
It's not exactly like Bento's pricing structure was a total surprise before the blue millie was comissioned. Their business model has always been high priced LE Spydercos. And yet they keep getting their hands on exclusives. I wonder how that keeps happening?
Where we differ on the subject is I don't really get the impression that any of your previous comments were about the subject of BBS as you claim they are. I think it has always been about you feeling entitled to have it your way and wanting to vent when life doesn't go your way.
Otherwise, why bring up a complaint about BBS pricing and policies so long after they were established?
