Seriously, it’s like he’s writing to us from 2016. Maybe he’s smarter than we give him credit for and built a time machine.
His change of tone and mood towards Spyderco had made a gigantic swing if you go back and read his participation in threads from 2016. He just turned dark quickly.

There’s still some angry political undertones in his post history from 2016. It’s getting easier to recognize it and I’m still surprised by the amount of vitriol some folks take the time to spew. No place in a knife forum.

As for the MAP change this thread is about and I still haven’t commented on...I’m more upset that Subway footlongs arent $5 anymore. Inflation happens; just wrapped the sale of my first house I bought in 2009 and made a tidy sum that will setup my son’s future (due February 4th) better than I could’ve hoped. It’s a price adjustment for a product I don’t need anymore of anyway and each additional knife is basically a frivolous one. Cash rules everything around me, CREAM, dollar/dollar bill y’all.

Happy New year dealers! Here's to a profitable 2018 and beyond. May you open brick and mortar stores in every corner of the USA where people only have the internet to purchase Spydercos. Congrats and thanks for all that you do.

First off, I’m not looking to stir up any commotion. I’m just trying to understand if this is correct. I’m seeing this jump across multiple sites. By my calculations (and I’m bad at math so they could be wrong) it looks like the Shaman just jumped 21% up in price. From $149.97 to $181.97. The MSRP went from $259.95 to $279.95 as well.

Is this right? Again, not looking to cause problems, just looking for clarity. I thought the price difference was going to be 5%.

Note: it looks like BladeHQ updated their PE Shaman pricing, but not their SE. I’m sure the SE price will change, but this screen shot is a good reference to show the hike difference.

It's not entirely unexpected. Spyderco said that the MSRP would be going up on some knives and the MAP was increasing (or discount decreasing, if you want to look at it that way) across the board. This was one of the knives that got the double whammy of decreased discount plus increased pricing.

From what Kristi said earlier, most models will only see the price increase from the change in MAP but it looks like the Shaman is one of the models where there's been an increase in MSRP as well. Kristi said a while back there'd be a few of those.

Bladehq also seems to charge what they feel like on a lot of products. Gotta pay for the 4k videos somehow, right?

Wow. The Manix 2 XL went from $125.97 to 139.72
On BHQ website. Is that about an 11% increase?
I really didn't think the Manix 2 XL would go up that much?

The price increase is going to change my knife buying habits. I have had the income to set on the edge and collect different versions that come out but even though this price change is relatively insignificant to a lot of people, to me it is going to make a difference in the quality and number of Spydercos that I will be able to afford.

Two models I like have went up at least 8%.
The Pattadda and Police 4.
They were $173.97 and are now $188.47
Just looking around it appears everything went up by 8% at least.
This is of course BHQ website.
And, of course, I haven't checked everything, but the ones I did have certainly seen both map and regular price increases.

If you had tried to enter that item into your cart, the price there would have shown as 181. Not sure why the listing wasn't updated. it may have now. Fortunately, I found a site that hadn't updated their pricing yet and got it for 149. Was hoping to get it in a sprint run this year, but with the increase MSPR and decrease MAP, it will just be more than I want to spend.

Unfortunately, that's just how math works.
$100 - 40% = $60
$100 - 35% = $65
$65 is roughly 8.4% more than $60
