Thanks Dave , this gives me a nice perspective of the design opposed to the Caribbean . Definitely can see a Bodacious in the future. I must have lucked out detent on my Caribbean is great , better than some of my Golden models . I will be looking for one at next show locally to handle . Dan

The compression lock issue you mentioned, I have addressed several of my knives that I thought had a pooch of a lock.
I took that liner out of the knife assembly that had the compression lock incorporated in the liner, then I just bent the liner more to have a more positive lock when the blade was opened.
I take a 6" metal scale to measure the offset of the compression lock before and after bending to know how much I move it.
I have done this to several models, even some had to much compression lock, so I bent the leaf of the lock bar to take some out. Might try it and see if that doesn't help yours as well. It makes all the difference on mine, but you can go to far either way lol.

Great idea on the pic comparison David!
I will add some too. It is interesting to see that you can get an almost Military length edge in an almost smaller folded length than the PM2.
Camera lens adds a little distortion, but the edges of the Military 2 and the Bodacious are very close in length.
IMHO, the Bodacious is the epitome of a practical work knife. I love many knifes for features, designs, materials, looks, but the Bodacious is the best all-around user for me.

I do still really love the Military, but I do also really admire designs that offer maximum edge length for the handle size. It's not that I'm obsessed with blade/edge to handle ratios, I own more knives with choils than without, but for me it's pretty awesome to have big knife edge length in a medium knife handle.

I have a pre and a post CQI Carribean, weakest detents I own, my Tichung Watu detent is not far behind. The Caribbean's detent is probably the weakest I've ever felt on a compression lock. It really didn't stand out when I carried it a lot but now after mostly carrying a Bodacious for the last year it's blatantly obvious. What's the deal with Taichung and detents? They're so dang good at everything else.
The factory titanium clip on the Caribbean is really nice. If I didn't like deep carry clips I'd be trying to order some of these and swap them to everything else they'll fit.
The Carribean's gray titanium spoon clip with black spyder logo is the best spoon clip they make, but unfortunately it has a narrower hole pattern than golden spoon clips and it wouldn't straight swap onto my Yojumbos.
Don't think I can resist the CFPP S90V Bodacious...

Got to handle the new S90V Bodacious today. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the scales had some texture to them! It was very difficult for me to recommend the Bodacious due to the slippery scales, although I very much admire the design. The new iteration solves that, although some may be priced out of it.

That end is more or less identical to a Shaman, so the same concern is there. I wouldn't mind if they sat a bit deeper into the handle but I have 6 and all of them are fine.

Shoot, I didn't really think about that while handling it. Lemme see if I have any pictures showing that.
I think it is something Spyderco should address. It may never ever be a huge concern, but why even give people a chance to talk about it? Just bury it a little more deeply in there, or alter the G10 pattern to give it a tiny bit more depth.
I am thinking of picking up a Spy-27 Bodie, and doing my own G10 scales, because I don't like the handle shape of the Bodacious, as well as the smooth scales, but I like just about everything else. I would do a similar shape to what LynchNW does for the Bodacious, and maybe alter the pattern to make sure the tip sat a little bit deeper.

That's good to know for me, too. Having a tip not sitting deep enough in the handle when closed is a concern of mine. The butt end of the Bodacious's handle is shaped very similar to the Chief's. And though my Chief's tip fits completely inside the handle, there is a small concern that if sharpened enough, it could eventually stick out.
I'm guessing the Bodacious would need to be given a slightly wider butt end (sorry, that sounds inappropriate) to allow the blade tip to sit deeper when closed. But that wouldn't be the way it was designed to be. Regardless, the Bodacious is a design I think I'll want to get when I feel it's time to buy a knife again. And if it's a Bodacious Salt, I'll be there for it.

I haven't tried but this is probably easy to remedy with a drill or Dremel and just open the holes up a little more. I don't think the pattern is that much different.

I want the sprint Bodacious badly but I just got the CS Wharnie and want the coated versions. I need a MAP holiday to get the Bodacious sprint while it is still around.

It's a new knife day for me and this one went straight into the pocket for the day! Finally have my paws on a Bodacious and I'm smitten - most of what I love about the Shaman, but with extra! Extra! I got the CF-S90V sprint (a favorite material set and my most expensive Spydie to date...) and it might be the sharpest factory edge I've ever received from Spyderco, although they have all been rather screaming sharp lately.
I appreciated so many of the folks on here posting pictures before I had one, so I thought I'd return the favor and add some more from a little cover-knife session I just had - so many great details on these! My tip is not proud and the centering/action/tactility/lock action are just absolutely 100%. The only question mark I have is why the back spacer is so obviously mis-radiused in two places?! I included a pic. I guess maybe these use the Shaman back spacer to save costs, but it is one of the stranger dissonant details I've ever found on a Spydie. Matters not! The knife is Just. So. Good. I'm going to use the tar out of this rig. Feels incredible in hand and with a very intuitive cut for my hands. I dare the whole materials of the world to stand in my way and be cut today!
