When going through the "Amsterdam meet" thread from last year, it's amazing to realize how many designs we haven't seen since. Lil' Temp 2 comes to mind. Haven't heard as much of a peep about it in the past 12months.
I hope that isn't the case with some shown here. Many I am highly anticipating, but I guess will have to be prepared to be patient to wait well over another year to hear about whether they are moving forward or not.

It seems like the actual cutting edge length will fall in between the Delica and Dragonfly like the Chaparral does. I will be picking one of these up for sure. Plus, you are a valuable contributor to the forum and I like to spend my money conscientiously and supporting this knife is an easy call for me.
I am right handed so the obstructed hole does not bother me. However...
I am slightly adverse to handles that tell me where to put my fingers. This applies to many tools as well as guns. I hate pistol grips with finger grooves. I think that when you first pick up a tool with finger grooves it feels really good and it feels like you have a very confident purchase on it but I also find that once I start to put the tool to use that I appreciate a little more flexibility to my grip. I don't mind one finger groove for the index finger or a choil for the index finger as it provides added security as well as a reference point for the hand but I like to have more flexibility with hand position on the rest of the knife. This is completely subjective and many clearly love finger grooves.
I can't help but think that it looks kind of like a Salsa with trailing point.
Hey thank you, Darby. :) I appreciate that very much. (Although it may be a bit debatable as to whether I qualify as being a "valuable contributor" to the forum. :o :) ). On a serious note though, I do understand what you mean about the pros and cons of finger grooves on pistol and knife grips. It is for this reason that I prefer Kahr pistols over Glock pistols.
I know that you use and enjoy your knives in the outdoors for hunting and fishing applications, which is exactly the type of applications I had in mind when I designed the Rhino. I am eager to hear what you think about the design after you get a chance to put it through its paces. :)

Hi everyone! I am new to the forums. My grandfather set me on the pocket knife path a long time ago and I have recently retaken the hobby. I am an attorney and visit federal facilities fairly often. Any pocket knife with a blade length of 2.5 inches or greater qualifies as a dangerous weapon and may not be taken into a federal facility. Thus, I would love to have a gentleman's folder with a blade length of less than 2.5 inches.
My ideal would be a knife with CF scales, CPM S30V steel or better, compression lock, and a blade length of less than 2.5 inches but as close to 2.5 inches as possible, say 2.45-2.49 inches. I guess like a shrunken Sage 5. I haven't been able to find any Spyderco knives that fit my criteria and was wondering if anything like that was shown or talked about at the Amsterdam meet. From MrBlonde's pictures, I guess the one closest to my criteria is the Rhino, but I don't know what steel it's going to be in, I think the scales are G-10, and the blade length is not maximized within my less than 2.5 inch blade limit. But it sure is a cool looking blade.
The closest I think that Spyderco got to my ideal was the Cat in CF and CPM S30V, which had a listed blade length of 2.438 inches, but that was a liner lock and was discontinued for production quality reasons, as far as I know. The current Cat (CTS-BD1, G-10 scales) is listed with a blade length of 2.5 inches and thus it falls within the definition of a dangerous weapon and I can't take into a federal facility.
Congratulations and thanks to MrBlonde for the great reviews and pictures of the Amsterdam Meet.
Agreed LC, the Nirvana is at the very top of my must have list, I got my pre-order in the very first day KW's offered them and am in under 4 bills, really hoping I got in on their first batch, this one could be crazy hard to get a hold of especially after hearing Eric say maybe 50 per month if we're lucky, keeping my fingers crossed.
Happy to be part of this great forum and group of down to earth spyderco addicts, Thanks Sal and gang. That was my first thought! I guess it depends on which you look at first, the blade or the handle.
By the way, I wonder if it's possible to extrapolate anything at all about the release time of the Ouroboros from the fact that at least one store has had it on pre-order for weeks now.
