Most days I use my Sofirn HS10 due to the convenient charging, but today it was the Sofirn HS05 that guided me safely to work.

Nice! Sofrin makes greats stuff. I’ll have toook at that model.

I've noticed my Fenix flashlights on turbo do get warmer than my Olight, Wurrkkos or Sofirns. Odd they hold the turbo longer before stepping down, yet get warmer quicker

To be fair, the PD36R pro does such a good job on the medium setting I don’t need much more. But it’s always nice to have. Even the 1000 lumen high setting is more than enough to light up everything and that doesn’t get hot. I’ve been impressed.
They offer a great discount for military/first responders so I picked up the 36r because I was able to get it for a great price. Next up is something with a moonlight mode of 1 lumen.

truly a one and done for me when it comes to EDC.



fits the flashlight pocket in my truspecs perfectly.

I add a headlamp to my kit when backpacking, but day to day this is the only one I use.

Nice extra that for free with the PD36R Pro. Very nice lumens and distance it reaches to for such a small light. Rides in pocket daily.

i have the v1 and use the red light when camping. i like to suspend it from the top of my tent and use it that way.

didnt have very good luck with pocket carry.

Funny the E03R is popping up now. I actually just received this original version from a coworker on Friday. He came to my office earlier in the week to ask me about sharpening his Bugout and saw my PD35R on my desk and we talked flashlights a bit.

Let him know I'd have it done for him by Friday and he gave me his E03R as a thank you. He's got various keychain lights and I mentioned I didn't have any. Not too bad! I won't keep on my keys as I dont like the extra bulk, but it can ride loose in the pocket. Pretty decent little light, love that it's rechargeable.

I used to have the Olight I3T or I5T for carry since they were small but they go through batteries a lot. I appreciate the rechargeable aspect of the E03R as well. Sometimes it does fall out of my sweat pants pocket but jeans it’s ok.

Newly released KR1AA with a beer before grilling some steaks for dinner in 6 degree weather!

Oh, your making me want to start a backpack thread now. I have been looking into making a waxed canvas backpack for myself eventually. Something fairly simple with leather shoulder straps is what I want to make. Will probably make a haversack first though.

While I am on the flashlight thread though, here is a flashlight question. What would any of you folks suggest to replace one of these mini Maglites:
It is plenty bright for my use, I like that it takes very standard batteries, it's a fine size, but I wish it was button activated instead of twist, and the clincher was that it has been unreliable when I was working on a house foundation. I would bump it a little and it would shut off for a few seconds or so. Not fun to be under a house in the pitch black wondering if your light is going to come back on again.

It seems like many things I see are a million lumens (I'm just being dramatic) but really all I want is a small light with a button, that won't turn off when it gets bumped. Preferably something affordable.

Stuff from Wurkkos or Sofrin is good and inexpensive but with good output. I’m sure there are companies I haven’t heard that’s are also good. Curious what other recommendations people have. I enjoy having a rechargeable battery. I know you can’t swap them out like a AA flashlight but I’d rather not buy batteries.

Great light for light work. Flood is a nice wide beam and the spot is a nice cool white that lights up well. Came in handy tracking down a bird that flew into my basement. (I have not clue how he got there, makes me worried there is a hole somewhere). Only got slightly warm on the highest setting under turbo. Very nicely done.

You should not.
I used to be a backpack addict, and after many years on the wagon I recently relapsed. I think it's just a short term thing to readjust what I have to address a change in use, needs and preferences over the years. But it's definitely a weak point of mine and with the amount of enablers known to hang around here, I fear such a thread could be detrimental to my recovery.

Besides the ones in the junk drawer, garage and truck, this is all of em for now.

The Nitecore EDC 09 & 17 combo is probably the best I've ever had.
