There are synthetic ruby, not sure how well they work. Website stinks and the 90's are screaming for it back but take a look here http://eze-lap.com/products/

I used them for a while for coarser edges,but in the end decided SM diamond rods or diamond bench stones worked better for me. They dish as you use them more than spyderco ceramic rods do, so they'd need dressed more often and replaced within a shorter time span.
