I have Anso’s Boker Solo saber, hollow-ground 3V folder (Solingen HT 62–63 HRC, sprint run years ago). Thin BTE, aggressive cut, fantastic handle <- this defines the knife performance. The blade performance reminds me GB1 (which has thinner stock and I like that more, but corrosion...). Would love to see GB1 sprint in Cruwear/PD1/3V that thin BTE with corrosion-protected liners/hardware.

I was thinking about 3V again today, so lets talk about it! What does everyone think about a 3V Mule, a 3V M2 Tanto, or a 3V Bodacious?
I’d be interested in a mule and the 3V M2 Tanto

I just got my first mule since the original in 52100.
Don't shoot me, but dare I suggest a Mule XL?
I feel like the regular mules are a bit on the small side for showcasing a very tough steel.
Regardless, I'll pick up just about any model if Spyderco does a run in 3V. I just want to see how their heat treat expertise changes the performance.

Would you be surprised if I told you it's already in the works? (6 Inch blade)

Hey Nick,
So you have to bring this up from the 2 year old thread. Thanx for reminding me. I had planned the sample, but got deterred. I'll pick it up again. You still in for testing Al?

I just love seeing a knife like the TUFF actually getting a proper sharpening and use. So many of them are used more for glamour shots than cutting tools.
I've got one in Magnacut and she's only going to be in glamor shots.

My experience with 3V is limited to Barkriver fixed blades. Most recent one I got is this mini Aurora. 3V can take a beating, decent edge retention and never had issues with corrosion. Would love to see Spyderco making a small fixed blade in this size range with 3V steel and similar micarta handles as the Temperance 2. Preferably with a thinner blade than the mini Aurora so it works better as a camp knife for thing like food prep.

Nathan Carothers even said he's experimented with a special heat treat of 3V that is optimized for a folder, how cool it would be to see them work together on a project. I don't who knows more about 3V - he has loads of experience with it. Both Carothers and Spyderco put the highest priority on the highest performance of knife steel. Lot of common ground.
The response I saw was that he would be open to a collab.

Cheers for the heads up buddy
Ironically I’ve been so busy at work using Spyderco knives this week I’ve not been on the forum much. It’s pruning season over here at the moment in between monsoons. I clocked over 4100 cuts with my Jumpmaster 2 yesterday chop and dropping a load of fruited banana palms, Mexican Sunflowers and African Tulip trees. I gave her a kiss with the CBN double stuff at lunch but what an incredible tool! My assistant caught me counting under my breath a few times and has been jokingly calling me ‘Rainman’ since

the things we do for science…

I would sell my neighbors grandma AND dog to have a Stuart Ackerman/Carothers/Spyderco collab knife. The Serrata with CPM Delta 3V heat treatment would be amazing!!! Love all three!!! I would also run over my neighbors cat to get a LC200N version too!

I just couldn't let a good idea slip through the cracks!

Glad to hear the wheels are turning again.

Awesome
I’ve moved house a few weeks ago so I’ll need to give you my updated address when the time comes. Really looking forward to putting this thing through its paces - I have an almost comical amount of cutting tasks to do in the coming months at work, so this couldn’t have come at a better time.
