MagnaMax mules are listed as sold out on the new site. Did these go live and sell out, or is that just a placeholder because “coming soon” can’t be used?

It's just a placeholder listing.

it would only be appropriate that it drops in time for my Father's Day gift

Wow. Nice seeing a bunch of new Spyderco fans joining the team.

Hello, eh.

My answer to the OP's post. Is a question. Will MagnaMax be "the" next Mule, or your next Mule?

For me it is nice to see new people coming on board and not really having to suffer FOMO. If a person really wants a Mule, they can buy one. I really appreciate having a regular in the line up, great steels with enough production, and a new wonder steel to get all hyped about now and then.

Exciting to see the new Reveal!

How many Mules have previously come with SE and PE?

I wonder whether the new website will cope better with what will surely be extreme traffic!

Will it be possible to get two SE and two PE?

Or (magna)max one of each?

I’m a bit sad that the Mules won’t have Proto X on them! Haha.

Man, I'm stoked for this one. I'm also very excited for the addition of a Spydie edge version that introduces another whole layer of testing and evaluation criteria.

Thanks Sal and Team. We've been asking for Spyderedge Mules for years and now they are becoming a reality.

I've just finished a big move and am in the process of getting the new shop set up. I've got some sweet Purple heart and a few other gorgeous woods that will be going on the CNC soon to start cranking out some new scales just in time for this release.

Hi Vxd, Tomtom,

Welcome to our forum.

Been out of touch with the knife world for a bit and can I just say how cool is it *tips hat to Sal* to randomly scroll across the company owner checking edges that someone(loaded description) put on his product and that four days later he's welcoming new people to the forum. "Those who know choose Spyderco" just gained more meaning.

Hi Sharky,

Welcome of our forum.

Listening to our customers is an important part of the Spyderco philosophy. We work for the ELU (End Line User), so part of my semi-retirement, is to do that. As a Knife Afi, (aficianado), I must say it is one of the more enjoyable tasks. We have some great discussion here with some very bright folks. Plus, I know the history, having founded the company.

I'm also hoping to hear an announcement date soon 😁

Future wife bought me a MagnaCut UKPK last christmas (my first spydie), and bought myself a Micromelt pd#1 Dragonfly this March. Hoping to make the MagnaMax Mule my first fix blade if it comes on sale whilst I happen to be on a break at work since I see they've released at 9am MST in the past.

Also fingers crossed for a future MagnaMax UKPK, Metropolitan, Lil'Native, or Dragonfly.
Spyderco gotta' be one of the few companies that can make small knives that actually fit my dinnerplate spanning hands with comfort.

Pete's video showed this one at 1350 cuts on factory edge, and just did one at 1000 for a hand sharpened edge. Averaged out, that might be even better than K390. Sounds like his next video is going to be after sharpening on his KME. Going to be really interested to @Steeltoez83 getting his hands on one of these as well!

Very excited for this one to drop!

Erica is really pushing for me to get 1 for testing as well. She seems to enjoy my testing approach.

Hey Steeltoez,

Would you be interested in one of the first run "Proto X" pieces that Pete and Erica have been testing? I think we might have one left? If so, Contact my assistant Wendy at wborchers@spyderco.com.

I am definitely interested in that Sal. I sent her an email just now.

Very cool the direction this thread is heading.

Question for @Steeltoez83

Have you gotten your hands on much serrated edge? There has been much curiosity on the serrated H1, and now seeing the Magnamax come out in serrated, I’m really curious about it, since it sounds like even Larrin tested a serrated edge in VG-10 and stopped the test since it became pointless as it blew the plain edges away. And maybe @Larrin could chime in to either elaborate or correct that story.

I am going to try to get ahold of one of the serrated ones when they come out. If I do, and you are interested in testing the serrated edge versus the plain edge, maybe I can send it to you?

I did test out the serrated k390 police awhile ago. Not sure if I posted about that or not. I dont think controlled cut testing that I do highlights the benefits for serrations on any particular steel. Instead I use a few benchmarks on plain edge knives to see if certain criteria is met. These are my criteria for what steels should or should not get teeth based on performance metrics. If there is interest I can elaborate in more detail about my thoughts.
