Though there are "Manix Monday" pics frequently in the "What Spyderco is in your pocket" thread, I think a dedicated thread could be fun.

Where I live it is Monday already and so I´ll share an old pic of a Manix model I don´t have anymore, but I actually miss it. I think the translucent blue handle is cool and unique, and BD1N exceeded my expectations when it comes to the "ease of sharpening / edge retention" - ratio (like in sharpening is superquick and easy, but the edge holding still decent)

Image

Well, I posted already this Monday morning, but this thread actually motivated me to carry the only Manix I currently own today... and most likely the best variant I can think of - lightweight and in REX 45 - unless they´d finally bring out a fully serrated ffg Manix 2...

Took a pic while being out in the woods for some no spin knife throwing (not throwing that Manix of course... ;) )

Top three going by pocket-time (update April 25):
- EDC: Endela SE (K390). Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10), Chaparral SE (CTS XHP)
- Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Endela SE (K390)

My third Manix, but my only LW. I tend to carry it more, especially in the summer, because it’s LW. I would never have guessed it. Now if there was a way to justify the Manix 15V LW, I already have the G10 version so it’s tough.

I know exactly how to help you justify getting the LW version... Since I don't have a 15V anything, you can just send me that ol'e nasty G10 version b then you can justify getting that new LW lol... Sounds like a great fix, does it not?

Well all kidding aside I just got my OD Green G10 scales for a Manix2 XL in... Had to get them on one of the Manix 2XL 's I have to sport these off alittle.

Wanted to tack one pic of it up here for Manix Monday, after all it's a Manix. The grip I have with these scales, they are not Green. They are Tan in color.

I feel pretty certain this was a send what they had, after all it was an ebay dealer... Ebay could be such a wonderful place to sell things, but I have not seen that much luck buying things off ebay and certainly not in the last few years...

Least they fit and they fit perfectly. They feel good in the paw. Just wanted the green. I am going to give these a smoke test and see if they grow on me. You guys have a looksee, for a Manix Monday!!!

Heck this pic looks sorta green I guess it's all in the light. I just know under 5000 Kelvin LEDs and outside in the sun these scales are definitely Tan.

But looking at this pic above it looks OD Green, what a mess. I guess green is a hard color to make parts. With how the light makes it appear.

Lord only knows my abilities of taking pix surely is bad at best lol...

A Manix XL is on my short list this year. I am secretly hoping for a 15V Manix XL. After all Eric said they were going to 15V the whole Golden line… so there is a chance.

Oh I haven't heard that man... 15V would be a killer up grade in steel, least what I have heard about 15V. I don't have anything or messed with anyone that did have 15V.

15V in a Manix 2XL heck I will have two of those right soon as I can. One to edc and one to rat-hole away... These bigger knives are really hard to come by in the premiere steels...

I agree buddy , we really need a SE Manix in the lineup . A lightweight in SE is something that just makes sense . Buddy Dan
We do and it does.

Just can reiterate: I don´t really understand why there is no ffg SE Manix (viewtopic.php?p=1748541#p1748541).

At the very least with the Manix 2 Salt I really would have expected an SE version.
Just feels "natural" to get that with a yellow FRN (ok, FRCP) "Salt" Spydie.

Let´s hope that one day we´ll both post a Manix SE pic in this very thread! ;)

Not a real SE fan but that said i do not think the any Manix version ever had a fully serrated version.
It would look increddibly cool and probably be a real work horse.

That is the best Manix, in my opinion. That may be the best Spyderco.

Yep! I owned a SE Manix 2 first run in 154 with a clear cage. Itnwas the first ball lock Manix I found for sale. Got rid of it the day I received the full sized in the mail, but I still have photos somewhere on my PC.
May you find peace in this life and the next.

It was too much performance. The same reason they never made formula 410. 409 was enough. :winking-tongue

In all seriousness, I would have purchased one in G10 or LTWT

Never seen one of the clear ball cages, that has to be really different. I been wanting a few of the Titanium ball cages, but only can get the aluminum.

There was a few Titanium that have the glow in the dark feature, just didn't think I wanted it bad enough for a 100 bucks. Not really sure I want those at any cost really just prefer the plain Titanium.

Someone really had a neat idea to insert the glow in the dark rods in them though. I have a few slotted ball cages that I could put the glow in the dark rod in, just never really pursued that.

Got my first lightweight Manix2 salt in that has the MagnaCut steel. First MagnaCut for me which I am really curious about and have high hopes with it.

My first lightweight Spyderco also. My first impressions are it needs the liners in it for me. Mine is brandy new and on the back of the knife, the scales are gapped open slightly between the bolts. I had to cut a little spur off the end of the ball cage spring guide.

My knife didn't clutch completely free. You could close the knife but it was not clutched completely free of the bearing ball lock.

Looks like as they assemble these and tighten the scales together they just warp a very small amount. I just hope this doesn't get worse as the summer heat here in the desert of Texas is coming...

The summer heat here can be tough on things, man and beast lol... I plan to put this Manix2 salt in my boat to go with my Catcherman, come to think of it, I thought the Catcherman needed the liners and the stainless removable clip lol.

Starting to get the idea I am not much into the lightweight knifes lol...
