So many posts and no user photos yet? I want one of these, but the 15V millie has taken my spending budget for the spring. I would like to see some sharpening feedback. Rex45 is a terrific steel and I find i can sharpen it almost as easily as Hap40.
I have the DLC version, but here you go. First sharpen on it was a mirror edge. Removed that little unsharpened portion as well at the heel but some of it still remains. I'll have to get the rest of it next time I sharpen the knife. Used my resin bonded diamond stones and no issues sharpening. It felt great on the stones from what I remember. Next I'll probably do a coarse edge on it as I sharpened my REX76 Mule recently to a 600grit edge using an Atoma diamond plate and that turned out great too. Just use diamonds and you won't have any issues. Really love the feel of the scales though. Wish more knives would come with aggressive textures like this. I want to grab the satin version too but saving the money for the rest of the 15V sprints personally.
REX45/HAP40 are essentially the same steel fwiw, per Dr. Thomas' comments here (viewtopic.php?t=87447). I remember one of Knifesteelnerds' articles saying REX76 is supposed to be just a bit higher HRC but otherwise pretty similar to REX45 overall. Sharpening the high HRC steels is pretty pleasant imo.

Thank you @Guts I am a supporter of KnifeNerds and remember that article. My use and sharpening of Hap40 and Rex45 has them near the top of my steel rankings. This is a very subjective ranking system, but through trial and error it has proven effective for me. I only use the medium Spyderco bench stone for my sharpening needs and my 701s for touchups or microbevels. That's a beautiful polished edge you have on the PM2. Thanks for sharing.

My satin blade version just arrived. Perfect out of the box. The second in a row, with the Military 2 15V, to have perfect matching edge bevels. I usually reprofile out of the box, but like the Millie2 15V I'm gonna run the factory edge for a bit. Looks to me like it is closer to 15dps than 17.
Thanks to Spyderco and GP Knives for this wonderful variant.
I got mine today satin version is beautiful, I missed the coated ones when in November due to funds so I picked up two this time. Anyone have experience with the steel?
It's very similar to Z-max. And my mule in Z-max is probably my most used and abused knife. I believe you going to love it. It's Rex 45 on steroids.
I have heard that it is similar to Maxamet in the toughness department 69-70hrc very brittle and that worries me and think it will be a collection piece but you say you able to abuse it still? My Maxamet pm2 tip broke off when I dropped it while laying on my couch (1 foot drop) . So I'm very careful with the harder steels ...

I picked one up too. I laughed when they released the DLC version on Black Friday. I was looking for bargains that weekend. When this satin version came up I grabbed one. Tired of grey handles, but that can be fixed someday.
edit: Knife showed up and grey or not, the cut brick texture is great for retention.
