I've 100% seen a mountain lion on my way through Illinois right before hitting metropolis. Was a big one too on side of the highway

Well our double drop tine buck made it through both weekends of firearms season. He's back to staying nocturnal... going to try and find a way to lure him out.

Well that’s good news, always a stressful wait wondering if a targeted buck made it or not… good luck

This is “Pig-Out” - an old fatty that I haven’t seen in over a month but unfortunately he lost his drop tine so I’m gonna let him continue to cost me he’s got that hunchback flat belly look now but it won’t last long because this dude likes to eat!

Well we have a little more than a month to go here in Georgia and I’ve passed on some really good up and comers but at least I have a decent opportunity for some meat… this group of does comes in like clockwork pretty much every morning

Good plan ! It’s been an odd year around here . Movement has changed a lot . Even in back I have had only one doe occasionally come in to eat out of feeder and not daily . I did see Friday a 8 point bedded with a large doe in a field outside of town less than 75 yards from highway . Buck was not a shooter though . A lot of guys haven’t seen or too faraway to harvest . These guys normally shoot two to three a year . Go luck Salty !

Those are some good ones on camera. I gotta head down to fish the white river on Thursday through the weekend and a few of my buddies are gonna chase deer. Hope these dumb trout don't cost me a shot at a target buck

I’d say trout fishing on the White River is a pretty good alternative to have this time of year…my father was from Stuttgart,AR. and I remember some incredible duck hunting and trout fishing trips. Good luck

Well this is “Lucky” from page one, a 4.5 yr old that got shot last year and survived…he has lost some serious weight but still kicking…I passed on him earlier in the season so hopefully he will make it until Jan. 16th because he’s gonna fatten up and put on some serious bone…

After using your knife to butcher the meat, what's the safest way to sanitize the blade to prevent pathogens?

I typically use a mule for quartering and skinning. Throw some dawn dish soap, followed up with some hand sanitizer, then a light coat of CLP when I'm done.

Glad that buck looks like he's gonna make it. They are very resilient animals.

Well we found the big 12pt symmetrical buck today. Too far gone to determine what got him, but rack was mostly intact. Would of been a good one next year...

Man that’s a shame, what a nice rack with good mass & symmetry…at least y’all found it.

Looks like Lucky made it through the season

I spoke with a Native American man and asked him what would happen if I travelled back in time with a box of lock blade hunting and fixed blade knives as gifts to say 1200 AD to live in an American indian tribe and hunt deer and bison.
He told me if I survived the initial introductory period which means possible combat, they would give me a lodge and a squaw wife and I would hunt and be expected to eat the heart of the deer and bison.

Maybe next year Salty ! I have been daily monitoring my Deer feeder below and the box holds 100 pounds of corn . Since our town cemeteries fenced behind my property going South and East the Deer are forced to navigate around it . The feeder recently has been nearly full until yesterday. I have one Deer coming in almost daily but two nights ago a group came in for a big party . Similar behavior during our last big snow no longer come in except in dead of night . MG2
