I just got the G10 and I know someone mentioned the G10 edges being beveled but it’s more than that! The edges of the spine and the opening hole are both beveled as well and not just “broken,” an actual chamfer. I think it’s a really nice touch all-around! ;)

Good grief! I wish I'd seen that before I ordered the LW. I just spent my first day with it and compared to my modified S30V version, it feels sooooo crisp. I was literally just thinking about how I'm going to need to crown the spine and chamfer the hole...

(Here they are together.)

So then, beyond the scale material is there some fit and finish differences between the FRN and G-10 versions?

I can’t speak to the LW SPY27, but the G10 is different than the M4 variant.

Good to know, I figured the G-10 and LW were exactly the same. Might push me to get the G-10 SPY-27 over the LW.

I thought about trading in my LW towards the G-10 version but I had forgotten about Spyderco's G-10 upcharge. The price difference between FRN models and G-10 models is often enough to buy a whole budget knife with G-10 scales. While things are a little different here with the ergonomic extras, the sticker shock at an extra $45 is just nuts. I suppose I might have gone that way off the bat had I known about the ergonomic extras but I'd still have sand in my craw.

So I'll just do the crowning and chamfering myself when I get the chance.
