I think this thread is trying to justify the Para 3/lightweight design.
I will be upfront, I like bigger blades and FRN. The lightweight design is great marketing, but really it is a budget offering of the original with the lower cost FRN handle material. Part of the rigidity of the original Para 3 comes from the G10 and with the change to FRN slightly more flexible. Adding more liner would help but would counter the lightweight sales pitch. Screws help add lateral stiffness which could help(adds weight and cost). Really the Para 3 lightweight is fighting for market share with Bugout and we all can agree that the Para 3 Lightweight is the beefier contender in the fight.
Looking forward to more white handles, I am good with my personal REX45 collection.

I'm not getting the part about needing more screws. I read your post about the two bottom screws falling out of KJ exclusive P3LW. What screws are you referring to? The clip screw(s)? I have 3 P3LWs and I just checked the screws on all of them. They're all tight. I guess it's possible they came that way from Spyderco but are you sure your buddy didn't mess with them? Either way the screws falling out isn't normal.
I also don't really understand the squishiness thing. They're all more rigid than the full-size bugouts I was handling. If I squeeze the Para 3 LW in the center of the handle there's a little give but I have to squeeze really hard to get any movement. It's about the same as the Manix 2 LWs I have sitting here and nothing I would feel in actual use. So it's a non-issue for me. They're LW models. If you go adding a bunch of steel and extra parts they'll no longer be LW models. They'll also be more expensive. Sounds like the LW models aren't for you and you should stick to the G10 models with liners. Problem solved.
I'm on the fence about getting the GP exclusive. I already have Para 3 LWs and I already have REX45 knives. Other than the white handle it's kind of redundant for me. It's still kind of intriguing for me though
I think the main thrust of the comment is that a little more backspacer material or maybe an extra fastener could have made the P3 LW a bit stiffer and brought the feel up to the level of other LWs.
Weight wise, I'd certainly trade some of that unnecessarily chonky blade stock for a little strategically placed plastic/fastener; maybe a little less skeletonizing of the scales, which seems more aggressive in the P3 than others.
One of these things is not like the others, one of these things is squishier than the others.
Hopefully the forthcoming P2 LW, if it winds up being linerless, will have a stiffness and feel more along the lines of the N5 LW.
As for the white Rex45 P3, I assume most everyone who wants one views it as a blank slate and plans on dyeing it?
FRN takes up stains other than just dyes, my lighter colored salts have some dirt stains that don't wipe right off, and that's fine, but I would guess (as others have mentioned) that white is going to start looking kind of dingey pretty quick.
Of all those knives, which one weighs the least..?? ....If you want a more sturdy Para 3 lightweight, Why not just get a regular Para 3...??

The Para 3 may be a lot of good things, but this platform makes certainly for comparably heavier knives, both in G10 and in linerless FRN (compared to the "competition", like Delica and Salt 2, just as it is with Endela vs PM2 in their size range)
I think the Delica 4 really gets underestimated as a lightweight option for those who want liners: Again, a tad less weight than the Para 3 LW plus that slicier, thinner but plenty strong blade.
What I cannot understand though: Why should the Para 3 LW be "too flexible", "flimsy" or the like? It is by far not my favorite model, but I have one at home right now to test it, and it is really rigid enough, even in "hard" use. No problems there whatsoever imho, no liners needed technically speaking.

I have the Salt 2 ffg, I have a scale , I have the specs given by Spyderco and well, the Salt 2 ffg is 1.9 ounces.

The PACIFIC Salt model you found a vid of: For its size amazingly light too. A larger knife than the PM2, but a lot lighter. In the discontinued version as light as the smaller Manix 2 LIGHTWEIGHT, in the new ffg version even lighter.
/ Anyway, though I love the low weight of the Salt 2 for mountaineering, the Para 3 is still really light too. In reality no real difference in 99.99 % of scenarios

I was thinking about something similar to this as well, a multicolor RIT tie dye.
It could be a way of Spyderco offering their own version of the "Dessert Warrior" or something like that. They could offer a knife with Tie Dye Zome scales and give the blade a blue PVD coating.
I suspect the Tie Dye would have to be done somewhat tastefully though, to avoid the "clown knife" connotations.

THAT would be a worthy project. I do see some bleeding with the bidirectional texturing, but it should otherwise be a doable cool project. Let me see if I can find my bell bottoms.

Interested in getting one. I like the white scales. Have to decide if I will let the blade patina with use. Or acid etch and stone wash to get a storm trooper looking knife. That's if I can get one.

Love the idea of white FRN, like a blank canvas. Rit Dye will have a sudden spike in sales when this drops.
