Maybe instead we could get it in high hardness AEB-L. AEB-L when given the good heat treat is everything 52100 is, except slightly tougher and stainless.
I'd be all for this.

In SE :D

I’ve heard good reports about this steel. Most of what I’ve read has been about LT Wright fixed blades. I’m a fan of LT’s treatment of A2 steel. I would be interested in a military in aeb-l if the performance of the steel is similar to 52100 but stainless. Serrated would be a plus.

You can probably try out the steel at a relatively decent price if you like the Urban. The Urban Sprint with Coyote brown handles had AEB-L.

From what I've heard though, the Urban AEB-L isn't given a high hardness HT. I think they were run around 58 - 59 RC.

I know Sal said Spyderco is interested in the using the better heat treat for AEB-L. Whether or not they do is up to them, but we can hope.
The Urban's are made in Italy, and so far the Italians are not know to run their steels to the upper end of a given steel's hardness range. They seem to leave a lot on the table.

The Urban in AEBL is still a great little knife. Don’t count it out. But, back on topic, a Military in (hard) AEBL would appeal to me more than 52100.
