Not gonna lie, I hope we are able to sell/buy non Spyderco products as well. Especially if it's only for us forum members, it really shouldn't make much of a difference should it? Most of us have other knives besides Spyderco that we would like to buy/sell and not deal with all the BS of the other formats.

I'm open to considering that down the road, but www.old.reddit.com/r/knife_swap fulfills that need for the time being.

Cool, thanks for considering this in the future. I just feel that we have such a great community here, if it's all of us, it SHOULD go smoothly. Spyderco or not. Obviously not the priority here though, I get that!

Rick and McLaren, perhaps you are right and I was wrong... :

I am 100% certain that with all of you folks that are on the forum right now there will be no problems with selling NON Spydies. I was just really afraid that in the long run (many) people might join the forum, just to sell any knife and have no interest in Sypderco itself, like we all certainly do! Plus that this might result in a lot more work for Vivi, so that perhaps in the end the whole project might be in danger...

But perhaps it would be a better approach to actually allow trading of NON Spydies and only stop this should it turn out to cause problems....

Absolutely Gernot, totally see where you're coming from! I was thinking along the lines of this reddit group being the same size as most of the regulars on the forum...of course who knows how large it will become! Obviously wouldn't want to take the joy and fun out of it for Vivi, or anyone in the group either. Will have to be a wait and see approach!

All my Brand-X knives? Those are the ones I want to dump.

I don't have any Spyderco Knives to sell, but maybe 5 "other" knives (so that I can buy more Spyderco Knives).

Well, so far NON Spydies are explicitly excluded ( I copied Vivis pic how he originally designed this swap from a previous post, see rule number 1). As said, I am not 100% sure anymore that this HAS to be that way. Actually I even think NON Spydie trade would work well with all of the current, long-term, trusted members who are really interested (also) in Spydercos.

Where I am not sure is how this will develop in the long run. Inevitably people who just want to trade any knife will get aware of this "swap" and perhaps join the forum and the "swap" just for this.
But again, probably it would be good to just try and only if it gets out of hands implement a restriction to "Spyderco only" (and not in the first place already)
