The micarta Wayne Goddard from the early 90s was linerless like the Native 5.

Re: He-Man Military Lover's Club - Enlist Here
We found that the Micarta wasn't strong to hold a clip screw in hard use.

Re: He-Man Military Lover's Club - Enlist Here
I'm glad to see so many Military lovers. I'm going to reiterate my love of Cruwear and K390 and my desire to see a Military in either or preferably both. Also, I really wish I hadn't missed out on the Rex45 Millie, so I'm going to say that I hope KnifeCenter does one of their exclusives with Rex45 and that Rosewood/Dymondwood handle.

Re: He-Man Military Lover's Club - Enlist Here
Mine is great, one of my top 2-3 Militaries. It patinas wonderfully, takes a very keen edge quickly, and is generally just a joy to use. The CF also makes it my lightest, and therefore most nimble Military. I didn't expect to like it this much, but I definitely do. I use it frequently for food prep, and just clean the blade like normal. No special coatings or other protectants. Just wash and dry after use.

Also, I would definitely be in for more Military sprints / exclusives. One in micarta, if possible, would be great. Especially in REX 45 or, even better, K390/10V.

Sal,
Could you speak about this a little more?
Don't the clip screws screw into the stainless steel liners?
I put some aftermarket Micarta on one of my Para 3s, and the clip screws are nice and tight. I will say the scales are a bit loose around the pivot of the knife, but not enough to bug me in use. Then again, I'm not really a hard user, I mostly cut tape & cardboard.
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.
Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

I think he was referring to the Goddard that 5×5 mentioned.

Hey Cambertree, I just saw this thread today lol. To Tim: everything Cambertree noted I would agree wholeheartedly with (and he knows a thing or two about edge bevels!) I'd say that the Millie is a perfect platform for 52100. As CTree pointed out it's got great toughness and edge stability, and I think that makes for a great hard use folder. It will patina naturally, but corrosion shouldn't be a problem with simple care. And yes it sharpens like a dream. Get one! I would also second that emotion for a K390 Military
My collection so far: 52100 Military (2); 52100 PM2 (2); 52100 Para3; Stretch2 V-Toku; KnifeWorks M4 PM2; BentoBox M390 PM2; BentoBox S90V Military; Police4 K390; S110V PM2; SS Delica AUS-6; Wayne Goddard Sprint VG-10
Wish list: Hundred Pacer; Sliverax; Mantra; 52100 PM2 SE; Kapara

Ah, that makes way more sense in the context of a lintless knife. My bad!Enactive wrote: ↑Mon Apr 27, 2020 3:12 pmI think he was referring to the Goddard that 5×5 mentioned.

A serrated Millie in a not too hard steel (cause of the serrations), preferably with Micarta scales (yes, I did read Sals comment that those are not strong enough to hold clip screws in hard use, but maybe there is a way to fix that?) would be rather irresistable for me..
Top three going by pocket-time (update April 25):
- EDC: Endela SE (K390). Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10), Chaparral SE (CTS XHP)
- Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Endela SE (K390)

Hi Sal,
I still think it is the best platform other than the Mule Team for testing steels.
It works great for that from my own experience and likely the best work knife I have ever used.

Left hand: 3V, 4V, both still missing in my collection.
Right hand: Manix XL sprint missing in everybody's collection, I believe.
Put thy hands together!! There, I've said it again. :)

Re: He-Man Military Lover's Club - Enlist Here
I would like to see a CPM 154 (RWL-34) Military personally. :)
I use my RWL-34 Mule Team a lot for cutting down boxes and have since I got it. The steel works very well and does hold an edge well.
So I think it would be a good addition to the Military. :)
