Most of us would like to be collectors......

........Given what you need a knife, or knives to do on a regular basis, what would be your choices for most useful and most used Spydercos. I suspect that those criteria could be found in only one knife.
Nope, I dont have a collection of knives per se - there is no red thread.

Nor do I consider myself a collector.
Owning and posting a complete collection of for example PM2s never held an iota of allure to me. I just dont see the point.

How ever, more power to those who have a collection, a red thread to it or indeed the complete (insert name of knife here) collection.

Their dough, their knives.

That being said, I have a coll...., I mean an eclectic bunch of knives of which most are users.

I say 'most,' as I dont really use my 1796 cavalry sabres or bayonets. A 'collection' of blades, if you will but mostly just blades stumbled over along the way.

As for my currently most used blade, that would be my modded MicroMelt Mule.

Handy and often dropped in the pocket of the smock when in the woods, which is often.

On the folder side, its the versatile PM2 or a ZDP189 Dragonfly for everyday mundane tasks.

Re the PM2; I wish I had more imagination and used my other Spyderco folders as much but as many others have stated; the PM2 would make a great allround folder for the vast majority of people.

Native 5 lightweight, the plainedged one from this picture.

  • large enough to make cutting tasks (opening boxes and hard plastic packaging, mostly) easy
  • small and light enough to carry very easily (clipped to the inside of my sock is my new favorite way to carry it when I'm not wearing boots to clip it to)
  • beautiful and sleek like an SR-71 Blackbird
  • tough enough to handle whatever I need it to do
Buying the black-and-orange Cutlery Shoppe Exclusive and switching the blade into a black handle resulted in a knife that I am super happy with, and now I have a matching all-black serrated and plainedged pair:

Military tops my list as well. One is always on me, but seldom alone. Manix (esp. Maxamet) for other tough jobs. Natives and Caly's dress nice and get the job done as well. But a Millie is always my first choice to put in my pocket. Good to see so many other Millie users speaking up here.

Probably the PM2 at this point, mostly because I have so many scattered around the house and truck. One is always in reach and it's such a good all arounder. Dragonfly2 or Manix2 LW would be next for similar reasons.

I'm honestly surprised at how many people regularly carry a Millie day in and day out. Now I feel like I need one haha!

The simple answer is a PM2, but for me there are no simple answers.

My current favorite combo, PM2 and Chaparral LW. Everything fits so nicely. *Chaparral actually sits lower than pictured there* I have a Manix 2 LW, but once I got the PM2 the Manix has seen less pocket time. It just feels like it takes up a little too much space with the shape of the blade, compared to the PM2.

My Original H1 SE spyderhawk was definitely my most used and carried knife. Close second would be my native 5 lw SE. That native 5 gets used. It's my "hey do you have a knife" knife. I started carrying my orange spyderhawk now and my original is semi retired.

Lately my most carried has been my Para3 in s110v for work.

I'd say that the two I find most useful that I own are the delica wharncliffe in SE and the PM2

For many years, the se Pacific Salt has been my most carried and most used folder. It will quite possibly get replaced in that role when the pe Lc200n Pacific Salt comes out.

Most useful is probably my Delica wharnie. My most used and carried has to be my Manix XL for everything outdoors and garden related to harvesting. Also use it as a extended chopper to gut poison ivy on all the hardwoods in my backyard.

I tend to reach for the Manix the most often. I like the size and it is just a bulletproof knife, or so it seems to me. Oddly enough a Tenacious gets grabbed a lot because it is a great knife, and I feel absolutely no need to baby it. Now that I have a native 5, I am finding it a nice thing to carry now and then, but it is just starting to work its way into my lifestyle. I can see it as a very "useful" knife and think I may be carrying it more and more.

Got my first Native 5 a few weeks ago (smooth green g10/s90v) and I've really been enjoying it. I use the pakkawood hap40 Delica and all black PM2 pretty frequently as well.
