Re: LC200N Caribbean
Vanax on the other hand seems to perform at s30v or better levels. I know Sal said that steel is quite expensive. Hopefully they can work something out on price because it’s one heck of a steel when you factor in edge performance + corrosion resistance.
Re: LC200N Caribbean
Thanks Lance / Sal.
It's funny how I have become steel junky + snob over the last couple years with all these supersteels - sprints and exclusives. VG-10 is solid performer no doubt + easy to bring back that edge in no time. My street beat is still one of my favorites and gets wicked sharp.
Can't wait to put some LC200N PE Pacific Salt and the Waterway to work.

Ah, closer to VG10. Need to work on my memory.
Even so, its retention is way better than PE H1. And LC200N's corrosion prospects seem almost as remote as H1's. For me, 2018 is an LC200N year.

Re: LC200N Caribbean
Maybe Lance or someone can chime in on this: What is edge stability/toughness like on LC200N? Can it be run thinner than S30V to enhance cutting performance?

And lest we forget, it wasn't too long ago that VG-10 was the considered the "top" blade steel in the world.

Re: LC200N Caribbean
sal, I know it is difficult at times to speculate because of market changes and things, but, if all goes well with the present-model Caribbean, did you say at some point that we may very well see a Caribbean or one like it, with FRN scales instead of G10?
Re: LC200N Caribbean
Hi SEF,
That's the plan. There are two sizes (current is the smaller one) based on heavier duty use. (3-3/4" & 4-1/4"). There are two blade shapes; leaf & Rescue (Sheepfoot) and two edge variations; plain and serrated. Early models will be G-10 and maybe Titan with the long term goal to offer FRN versions at more affordable prices.

Was the compression lock part of the titanium scale like the original ATR?soundshaman wrote: ↑Sat Apr 21, 2018 11:24 amI really enjoyed the look feel better and lock of the Ti Caribbean at the meet. Hope it gets made soon!

I thought the current Caribbean is quite large, but the next version even larger, darn.
Hoping to see some more pocketable knives in LC200n, 3 and 4 inch handles.

Re: LC200N Caribbean
I am quite excited to see LC200N added to the line up. I am looking forward to my first knife in the steel so I can put it through its paces.
Now here is my question: If LC200N is a little better than VG-10 in edge retention, is it as easy to sharpen? (some steels can be a bear)

Re: LC200N Caribbean
TI scales on the compression-lock Caribbean? Nice surprise.
Can anyone name another Spydie with this scale/lock combo?
Too late to ask for grippy texturing on the scales?

The original ATR and Salsa were both titanium integral compression locks.

I don't think you will find LC200N edge retention better than VG-10. At least that's not the results we experienced. Almost as good would be a more accurate definition.

Re: LC200N Caribbean
Thanks.
I had a PM2 lock in mind. Having now watched some videos on the ATR version, I'm liking the Ti Caribbean more. I wonder if the ATR holes add grippiness.

Re: LC200N Caribbean
Will the large Caribbean also be thicker? And is there an ETA?
Re: LC200N Caribbean
Thickness is planned to be the same. Not sure about the holes in the handle yet. ETA is not yet.
