Sadly I did not see a single new model that has called to me at all and it does not appear that I will be acquiring anything new this year, unless a new Chaparral or a new Mule in a high carbon tool steel is released. But it is all good. When something I am looking for does appear I will have the funds for it. There is always a bright side...... ;)

VERY disappointed that the Sage 5 is G-10/CF Laminate! I hope Eric was wrong about the handle material in the Sage 5 video like he was on the Sage 3 and 4 configurations (wrong order). BTW...I'm not being critical about him messing up, it is very hard to keep up with every model, especially in front of a camera...I just REALLY hope he is wrong!

I'm curious about handle material on this one too. In Wouter's pics it looks to me more like the solid peel-ply CF we're used to on knives from Golden. Is that what you're hoping for? I've only recently got around to trying the laminate from Taichung, but I'm pretty pleased with it too, on my Chaparral and Sage 3, even though the argyle weave pattern on the Sage seems a bit nelly, or dressy at least.

I don't want flippers, since I look to Spyderco for the hole opening. For me, a sweet spot in blade length is under 3" and over 2.5", and I didn't see much here. I occasionally use a longer bladed knife, somI will keep, checking back to see what appears.

So many impressive knives. It's hard to pick just a few.

The Rhino is a MUST-have. By far, for me, the most tempting.
