Did anyone else notice they used a Philips head screw on the hood of the ATR instead of a torx, wonder why they went with that, I thint a torx would look better. I'm definately picking one up regardless, also want that mamba, it's such a beautiful beast.

The ATR will be mine...to sit next to the blacked-out VG10 one in the collection

And I forsee all kindsa custom scales in the future of this model.....A nice anodized aluminium perhaps.

Still waiting for something new. Something that we haven't seen before. Don't get me wrong return of the ATR is huge, but we know about it since Shot Show.
Amsterdam meet is so exciting for me, because of realising new, unseen designs and secret prototypes. This year Eric bring a lot of it. I know Mr. Blonde put it in alphabetical order, so Caribbean should be next:)

Just a guess, but perhaps because space constraints required a flat head screw and Phillips works better with that style head than Torx or Allen because the drive slot is V shaped. Either that, or the blade in that prototype could just be a leftover from the earlier SS version.

What makes torx better (besides familiarity)?

The current run of Delicas and Enduras drop the spine about 1/2" from the point.
The original ones I fell in love with are a straight spine from the thumb ramp all the way to the point:

Mais non, monsieur- there is indeed an advantage to Torx over Phillips in some applications:

By design, Torx head screws resist cam-out better than Phillips head or slot head screws.[1] Where Phillips heads were designed to cause the driver to cam out, to prevent overtightening, Torx heads were designed to prevent cam-out. ...... Rather than rely on the tool to slip out of the screw head when a torque level is reached, which risks damage to the driver tip, screw head, and/or workpiece, torque-limiting driver designs achieve a desired torque consistently

From the Wikipedia article on the same....

But let's not drift any further from the subject of Wouter's fantastic pictures!

Torx have more surface area engaging the driver...this means more torque can be applied without stripping the screw. Hence the name "torx".

Looks like cobra hood screw isn't so small, so Phillips isnt an issue in regards to function.

Edit wait it is small. ehh whatever Im ok either way.

Thank you for the great pics! However i am confused re. the titanium handled Cara cara being a prototype? I had one, it had an uneven blade grind though, so i passed it on.

Sorry mate, the D'Allara was shown, but it's not on the list of knives I can share. That means it's likely a bit too far from actual release, compared to the prototypes I can show.

The Dragonfly HAP 40 is part of a sprint run of lightweight folders with HAP 40 steel. I’m looking forward to try out this steel. I’m not much of a steel-junkie, but I had great fun with the super blue steel that came out last year. So why not try this HAP 40, right? The lightweight Dragonfly looks nice with a burnt orange colored handle. It is a much more subdued shade of orange than the bright orange on the regular production orange Dragonfly.

Great pics of the DF2. These HAP40 blades are really great.

I am a Lum Chinese Folder addict, so the new Lil’ Lum will definitely go on my wish list. It is a very small folder, but even with its right-handed clip (I’m a lefty) I could easily manipulate it. The Lil’ Lum does have a much curvier edge than its medium- and large-sized brethren in the Spyderco line-up. I do think the black G-10 is a bit too basic for an elegant folder like this. I hope this one does well for Spyderco, hopefully well enough to warrant a run in a more interesting handle color.
