I have to admit, I am quite excited for this model!

I have always wanted a titanium framelock flipper, but was never welling to compromise on what I wanted in terms of overall knife ergonomics and performance to get one. Now Spyderco will be making one with a 3mm spine and FFG in CPM-M4, and with a 3+ inch cutting edge in a Delica sized package? Of course, I will be getting the Mantra rather than the 2 since they are both 3mm at the spine an the taller blade of the Mantra should mean a thinner overall blade geometry.

By the description that leak after Amsterdam. Mantra supposed to be a Manix flipper with M4. This doesn't look like Eric design at all. No finger grooves, no choil. It's an old Delica shape with flipper and high end materials:( And Mantra 2, with that extra slim blade looks absolutely horrible. YMMV.

That Gayle Bradley flipper looks absolutely fantastic. This should go to production ASAP.
I'd be at the very opposite end of disappointed. Not a big fan of Eric's wide blades and wide handles like on the Manix and Domino. YMMV for sure.

Fret not, I would not be surprised if the knife you want is on its way in the future. Essentially an XL Domino.

Can't wait to see a side by side photo comparo with a Delica.

I'm really not torn one way or the other on lock-bar faces, but it is nice to see these have the replaceable face (not that I've ever had to replace one yet).

Steel_Drake, good point about the taller 1 blade being thinner behind the edge compared to the 2.
Going back to Caly.

I was thinking about that last night while I was trying to fall asleep. I hope the "2" isn't too wedgy with the narrower blade and same spine thickness. At first glance I'd assume the Mantra 2 with that blade shape to be slicier. Regardless, I'm really looking forward to these!

I doubt you are the only one, but I am not sure you'll find much agreement on that opinion. Time will tell. I for one was completely uninterested when I heard about a "Manix flipper". Blah. This on the other hand is a thing of beauty! Slim profile for comfortable carry. Narrower and more useful (for me) blade. No annoying finger grooves limiting how I can hold the knife. Less than 3 ounces for the Mantra 2 (which is arguably the sleekest looking knife in the catalog). Winner winner chicken dinner in my book. Obviously opinions will vary but my prediction is that both of these knives are going to be very popular.

I've had it with all this fooling around fellas. Get both. That's the answer.
Brilliant! :D I can even sell this to my wife because they are technically two different knives. :p

Sounds like you spend a lot of time explaining to your wife Michael :D if my wife knew how much I've been spending on knifes over the last few years I'd probably be single... ;)

Can anyone post some photos of the knives in question? My computer is down for awhile and I only have access to the forum through my phone (cannot view the catalog correctly and waiting on mail delivery).

Thank you, I found it on BHQ too. Jeez man, I think I'm gonna have to get one. I was trying to keep it to just the hap40 Delica and the upcoming BladeHQ pm2 in m4. Ugghhh...I might actually get one of these instead of the pm2. I'm so confused!!!!!! hahahaha

I do indeed. ;) :D :D Although, fortunately, my wife is usually pretty agreeable to my crazy spending habits. (As long as I keep myself somewhat in check and don't blow my allowance in one sitting :p).

P.S. I find it helps to have a legitimate... er, or at least somewhat legitimate, reason for buying said item. (E.g. "Honey, this is a rare one. If I don't buy it now, it'll only be more expensive later on and..." :D It kinda' gives one a leg to stand on. ;)
