They do sell replacement parts.

This is what I received in an email from Spiderco.

To purchase a ClipKit for your knife you can call the Spyderco Factory Outlet, mail in a order with a check or money order, e-mail, or you can fax in a order. We accept Visa, Discover and Master Card.

If you prefer to order by e-mail or fax please provide us the following information:
1) Item and quantity of item
2) Full name as it appears on Credit Card
3) Billing address for Credit Card
4) Credit Card number (you can send half of it in two separate emails for security.)
5) Expiration date
6) CVC Security code
7) Shipping address (if different from billing)

I was cleaning my PM2 the other week (not taking it apart), and I noticed that there was only 1 washer in it. I emailed and asked if I could buy a washer... nope. I needed to send it in, they would inspect it and if it was deemed a warranty issue, I would just pay to ship it back. Shipping it there, and back would be $10-15 for a washer. One that I did not lose in the first place, haha. Knife is about 5 years old and works fine, so I just decided to not send it back.

In short; I did wish I could buy parts like that. :(

It's just that it doesn't really make sense to go to the expense of sending the knife in and paying the fee to have you replace a part that I freely admit was lost due to my carelessness and then paying for you to return it to me. This will probably bring the bill close to the price I can buy a new knife for. I'm not sure how frequently you change the size of a stop pin for a Resilience knife, but I'm sure even if I bought several different size pins, the cost would be less than shipping the knife back to the factory.
In a world where a hot cup of coffee is worth $640,000 plus probably that amount again in lawyers fees, Spyderco's position is just good common sense. As a society, we've decided that manufacturers and other vendors are responsible for customer stupidity. If a cup of coffee can cost a company ~$1.5 million, think what an improperly reassembled knife that causes an injury is worth. You and I and most of the rest of the people here may be exceptions to the rule (or maybe not? ;) ) but companies have to take account (literally) of the lowest common denominator.

Hope this isn't stretching this away from the main thread here but one answer to that is for society to simply put a new universal blanket ban against all and any law suits for damages caused by the end user or end consumer unless it is objectively proven that there was a faulty part or product. That would have put an instant end to any case where say a person bought a hot drink, was injured because of their own stupidity, and then sued the company and won. It would have been nullified before it ever got to court. Same with the idiotic fool who bought a Kershaw hunting knife with a GUT HOOK and then went on an Alaskan dog sled race and tried to use the GUT HOOK which is made for OPENING THE BELLIES OF DEAD ANIMALS and tried to use it to cut something else and cut himself, and sued Kershaw! It was a real case: https://www.knife-depot.com/blog/musher ... ed-finger/ If people of society made sure that such lawsuits were impossible from the start, it would nullify them and then companies like Spyderco and Kershaw would never have to be concerned at all about some person or group suing them as long as the products they made were good to start with. Seems like a simple answer right?

Clearly, the solution to the spare parts issue is tort reform.
