Congrats on getting the Techno. Like I've stated earlier, I'm sold on the Techno and have carried it every day since August, 2012. It displaced my trusty Small Sebenza of many years. I feel the Techno is actually a better EDC and will be interested to see if you come to a similar conclusion after your Techno gets some pocket time.

Enjoy it!

For me it is like this; I like the Sage 2 and it is a great knife , but the Techno puts a bigger smile on my face when I use it.. Silly, but that's how it is.

I've had similar experiences with some of my knives. The ones I wind up liking best and carrying most often are not always the ones my intellect and analytical skills tell me I'll like. It's the one's that make you happy :)

But I'm pretty sure I'd like the Techno if it were a bit more ambidextrous.

The Techno gets awesome reviews from lots of those that buy one...perhaps a left handed Techno sprint for all the south paws is in order. Having titanium scales on both sides, it probably wouldn't be the most difficult knife to re manufacture, and lots of lefties can't legally carry something as large as a left handed Military even if they can find one. The only left handed frame lock I've heard of is a Sebenza, and lots of Sebenza fans seem to really enjoy the Techno. I'd be tempted to buy one...I'm right handed, but very ambidextrous and I'd consider pairing a left handed Techno in my left pocket with a few of my knives that fit in my right pocket (My Techno, being right handed rides right pocket).

Looking at the Techno, it seems that it would be difficult to open and close left handed.

I had resolved not to blab about this any more for fear of undermining the lefty cause, but for me the right hand millie is about as easy to open and close left-handed as the LH one. Is the Ti Millie (a framelock) as easy to close left-handed as the standard millie?

I'm a lefty of course and have both the Cru Millie and LH Millie, and I wind up carrying the Cru a lot more than the lefty because of the "intangibles" (irrationals? :p ) NoFair and I mentioned. (I previously didn't think I liked light gray, and for my purposes, the s30v blade would really be fine. :D )

The Techno is very hard to open left handed. I'm right handed and fairly good with my left hand and it's impossible for me to break the detent with what little spyder hole is available on the left side.

I don't own all three, but I have held all three. IMO, if we had a Ti handled Dragonfly to compare with these two, the contest would be over. Like David said, "I need a knife to be sexy and have an exotic feel to it" I feel a 4" version of the Techno with it's distal taper, would be a game changer though!

While it's certainly not as easy to open with the left hand as the right, it's far from impossible. If I'm to use my left hand, I simply start the opening by using my middle finger on the non-lock side and follow with my thumb as soon as the blade overcomes the detent. Being that I close the knife in a controlled manner, I have no issues closing the Techno with my left hand.

Got my Sage 2 and Techno!

#49

Post by Revival »

Ok so I finally got my Sage 2 and Techno in and ironically they arrived they same day. My initial impression is WOW WOW WOW on both knives!

Sage 2
The Sage 2 was on the top of my list for a while but some how I would always get something else first. I was familiar with the Sage as I have two Sage 1's which I absolutely love. The Sage 2 is a piece of art. So light in the hand and very comfortable. When you have it in your hand, you can tell it is a slicer, no question about it. I have been dreaming about this knife for a very long time and it has lived up to my expectations.

Techno
I always thought Techno was not pleasing to the eye nor was it ever on my list. Finally in 1 single day, I don't know how but I got intrigued by it. Everyone kept saying how much they loved it. I couldn't take it anymore and I needed to find out for myself. First thing I noticed was it had a little weight to it and its also very comfortable in the hand. The finish on this knife is amazing and its extremely smooth to flick open. I asked my girlfriend what she thought of it by just looking at it. She put it perfectly by saying, "wow that little knife has a lot of character!". Thats exactly right.

Bottom line is both knives have the quality I have yet to experienced with my Spydercos and that makes me very excited. Both knives are a work of art but in their own little ways. Which one do I like more? Well I can't answer that question. Only time will tell. I can tell you is that these 2 knives will remain in my possession and I would get duplicates in a heartbeat. I already love both these knives.

I feel its my duty to post more pics.

Side Note: Should I be concerned about the lockup of the Techno. Is this normal or something I should be worried about? Also I already gave the Techno a little more attention by sharpening it. Some how in the process I added a smudge to it and tried cleaning it but it won't come off.

Anyways, here they are……

Congats Revival...they look great!! Glad you like them and I'm sure you'll continue to be amazed at how well they perform. Not sure of your concern re the Techno's lock-up? Look nice and early to me...similar to every other Techno I've seen. Early is good...

See that shows how much I know about frame locks. I always thought early was bad.... Haha

It's stronger when the lock bar is closer to parallel with the blade...aand my Techno locks up in almost the exact same place.

Awesome... Glad to hear. I do have a question though. How do I go about getting a new backspacer for the techno? Are they easy/hard to install? I can't stand blue... Haha.

Most I've seen are from Cuscadi/Custom Scale Division. They make GITD, colors in G10, and carbon fiber. I've never swaped my stock B.S. so I couldn't say how difficult it is but imagine it's fairly easy...prob voids the warranty though.

I have browsed their website and it looks confusing to me. I didn't see any pricing and are they even in the U.S?

Edit: never mind I figured it out

I believe they're in Germany, but have a good rep in most forums and are quick to answer email queries...seem to remember the Techno b.s. is in the $35 to $40 range depending on config.

Hi Revival!
How do I go about getting a new backspacer for the techno? Are they easy/hard to install?
- There are some places/guys to go for, but if you're looking for the best F&F just go CuScaDi:

http://www.cuscadi.de/2013/10/14/new-te ... -on-stock/

- To swap the backspacer you just have to release 2 screws, the middle one and the last one, but if you prefer you can release all three. Use a Torx set, and I'm not 100% sure but should be T9 for the 1st and 3rd screws and T6 for the 2nd (middle) screw.

I plan to eventually get one of their green glow in the dark backspacers for my Techno. I also prefer the "geared" texture over the smooth replacements.
