I am also waiting on the next elusively, mystically, spoke of but never seen, lochness grade, fluted cf para 2 :p but when the time comes ill borrow money from my family if I have to [would not do this for any other knife!]. Luckily I have a para 2 atm, as well as a sprint. What I would say is get the regular whenever you can. Not sure what your usage habits are, but even if you do not covet your sprint into safequeen/ play toy status; imo it is always nice to have at least a second rotation/just in case to use [eg your tired, but your blades dull, you can always rotate it out, sharpen the other later, and other misc stuff]. So at least by the time some sprint rolls around, you will be familiar with the knife enough, and can choose to see if purchasing the sprint will be worth it for you. And you will have a secondary to rotate in. "Double the pleasure, double the fun, double the joy with double mint gum" [or something like that lol]

I've been on the backup list for over a year, hopefully I'm close enough to the top to get one.

Not at all. I put my index finger on one end to lift the clip a bit and push up to extract. It might be a wee bit more difficult with the Manix XL due to it's larger footprint. Even with tight jeans it's doable.

Good discussion. Get one if you don't have one. FTW.

Thanks again, BAL, arjay18, Blerv, senorsquare, Phrenic, and everybody else for the extra information, advice, and excuses to buy now.

PM2 is my favorite blade. Not my first, because they are all good. But it is still my favorite. We'll see if the M2Blue can compete.

Did STR give you the family discount on the low ride clips? :D
Edited to add: wild guess that Steve made those clips. I count nine of them in the photo. Since those are the users, Arjay18 has a user for every day of the week, and then some.

Family discount huh? I wish! Steve makes great custom low rider clips but those get expensive fast. I got a bag of 50 low ride clips for ~$5.50 from USAknifemaker and just enlarged the holes with a dremel to fit. Nothing fancy but they work great and they cost 1/8 what Steve charges. I didn't want $2000 invested in pocket clips. :D
One of the black/satin rides in my EDC bag as backup and I don't fancy the orange one so I don't carry it much. I've been carrying a black/satin one for past couple of months due to our election weapons ban. I won't hesitate tossing it out if for some reason I get into any trouble with the law since they are easier to replace as compared to sprints.

The big A store has one seller from Fla listing what looks like the black/satin for $169.99 + 4.49 S&H. They're listing it as: "Para-Military2, Gray G-10 Handle, Plain"
Oops-- I just realized the word "Spyderco" doesn't appear anywhere, and in fine print, it says "by Moteng." Lots of cojones to charge that much for an apparent knock-off right on Amazon.
Also a Google search turns up another Florida "knife and tactical" store claiming to have the Spydero Black G-10/Black Blade back-ordered, listing it for $155.56 ($165.91 W/s&h). I emailed them to ask if they are actually taking orders. I might be willing to go this high, since the black/black ones are even scarcer than the rest.

Moteng is a Spyderco distributor. It's almost certainly OK.

Spyderco actually did make a Para 2 which fits these specs. There's always a chance that the picture they posted in that listing is just a stock photo.

If that's the grey para in 20CP, that is a very good price.

(quoting myself) I emailed him about 2:00 AM (Sunday) and he replied about 7:00 AM with this response:
"Thank you for inquiring about the Spyderco Para Military 2 with G-10 handle and black blade. I checked my suppliers websites and Spyderco's site it shows everybody out of stock. I've emailed my suppliers to get an ETA as soon as I get a reply I'll forward the information to you."
So it looks like it's pretty much the same all over... but this was the quickest response I ever got on a weekend, so he seems to be serious about doing business.

Hang in there and be patient. Hopefully they'll start showing up soon.
