Thanks for letting us know Kristi. I for one appreciate the heads up; especially on something you guys don't have to do but you do anyway.

I hope you have a good Christmas and New Year. ;)

Thanks for the heads up Kristi - Around late November I thought it just wasn't gonna happen - completely understand.
Can you tell us what the native is gonna have handle material wise - color? Blade style(PE or SE) & steel? Price?
Doesn't hurt to ask does it
Looking forward to your reply and a sticky on the board saying "It's ready Spyder guys and gals"

I've never even heard of the Delay, and now it's the model chosen to be a forum knife?!?

Thanks Kristi,
I'm glad to hear there is one and not the opposite. Looking forward to my first forum knife.

Well, Forum models tend to be special; so was the last Forum Native (see below), so it will be worth the wait :)

If you would have ordered 2, there would have been none left for me: back then, I got the very last in stock!

So thank you for ordering just one :D

I, for one, am thrilled. I have been avoiding the forums because I didn't want to see new news about the forum knife. I am extremely low on funds thanks to a job change, a move and the holidays. Curiosity got the best of me a bit ago and I had to see what the scoop was. This is the best news I could have gotten!

How do you get access to buy a forum knife? And where do you buy it from?

Usually Forum knives are sold through website (SPO). Again usually Kristi started the thread when and how. Just keep your eyes open.

I was hoping that there would be some way to ensure that forum members who wanted one got one, or that there's a restriction on the number you can buy, since I don't think it'd be fair for some outside collector to buy a whole lot and deny the forumners the chance...

EDIT: Can anyone tell me why the native is so special? I mean, the native has been the forum knife for quite a few times, and was also gifted to the President. Just wondering what makes it so special.

Minibear,
The Native is not only by my knowledge the best selling :spyder: model, but often a platform for new design methodology, so it is generally the most affordable way to manufacture and try new features in a knife. It is also about average in size and most people seem to be comfortable with it. Large enough to do most tasks but small enough not to feel bulky in pocket. It is arguably the most "average" knife in the regular lineup and as such is often looked at as the "Standard" model (no pun intended, I know there was a Standard model 25 years back or so), so most folks seem to identify with it.

Adventura and Lava were sold the way, that everybody got one. People pre-paid in advance and Spyderco etched quantity of the knives accordingly. I beleive both times less than 150. But this was quite time consuming for Kristi: collect checks, maintain the list and so on. Last time 300 pieces (twice as many than two previous times) were made. The time, when the knife went for sale was posted on the Forum couple weeks in advance. Many people didn't expected 300 to be sold within few hours. May be they should:300 USN Enduras were sold within hours as well. I am aware only about one dealer who bought quite a few Forum knives. He used to be a forum member. He is not a dealer anymore either.

A lot of said about Native5. You just need to get one.
