Yeah it's really thin, just put it with it to show the Spyderco with one of the Originals. :)
I have to get it ready for testing.
They did a really nice job with it, it's excellent. :spyder:
Now I have to put it through it's paces, will take some better photos and do a short review before the testing process starts.

HKS just sent an email that they will be receiving 5 of them on July 7th. Total price will be $272.27, and that's including the $10 pre-order, but CS has them for $240.80. I'm thinking if I didn't make the 5 that HKS ordered, I'm gonna buy from CS and save $20(even with the loss of $10 for the preorder). I really like doing business with HKS, but $30 is a pretty substantial price gap
.

My invoice was for $252.27, bringing my total cost up to $262.27, after counting the $10 pre-order deposit. (not $272.27 as referenced above.)
That's not too shabby, it was unclear because the email that HKS sent out was misleading of the price.

With all the waiting and thought that I have been putting towards this blade... it suddenly just clicked that this knife is too fancy for my blood and I won't be picking one up. I can't even justify a single NEED or let alone find enough use for it that other blades can't do in order to make it a worth while purchase.
At first glance when it was announced I had zero interest, and approaching the release it really grew on me, but now I'm back to having zero interest in this... so much so that I've canceled my pre-order at HKS and the back order I placed at CS
I may regret this decision later down the road, but I'll still have and extra $250 in my pocket.

You will have plenty of time to change your mind again later. :D
It's a standard catalog item.
It's currently the 1st and only standard production knife on the market that is made out of CPM S90V.
It's not fancy, it's got everything one would need and nothing one doesn't need in a pure user blade.
It's elegant in that it's highly a refined design that is optimized for high performance and the S90V HT is dead spot on.

I caved :D . Howe's has 'em at $221, and I couldn't resist.MachSchnell wrote:It is possible that I may pick one up later this year. It seems to be a great value considering the materials used. If or possibly when I get one I'm sure it will get used more often than I think. But as of right not I still think it will be overkill for the uses I'll put it through.
Mine has been out and about with me after polishing the edge (plus a 30deg microbevel)- took some pics with my phone:

I would re-echo what people have said about the knife; great fit and finish, elegant and focused design. This isn't my first Phil Wilson and although it isn't quite in the same league as the custom, it is good value (in my eyes) for an excellent knife.
I'm going to have to tweak the sheath a bit as the boltaron (?) is a bit sharp and stiff . It's fraying a bit already and I think it will scratch the micarta prematurely. It's not a big deal, just need to round off the edges and maybe flare the edge a little.
Lovely knife!

I am really liking mine in the kitchen - the only thing I wish for (kitchen duty) would have been a thinner blade. It is sharp, it cut well, and works well in the kitchen, but it is a tad too thick to really shine in that role.
Definitely a keeper, and in fact I need to save some money as I would like to have a second one :D
