Im not against coloured handles but somehow all the knives i usually EDC are black (with exception of a gray ffg endura). I really like my Assist in the nice neon orange, I can't tell you how many times I've set it down on the ground or in/on a wreck when i needed a free hand and found it easily due to the bright colour. Over all though i definitely enjoy options even if i don't get them :) .

Thumbs up on colors. Just bought a green VG-10 Delica, and I really like the shade of green on that knife. I also tend to prefer FRN over G10, which probably makes me odd.

I have a couple of Salts which tend to get used outdoors, and so the yellow is very practical. My most carried Spydie is a black D'fly, but I think I'd prefer the color of the new ZDP one.

I like colors on Delica and Endura. I am not crazy about gray or FG. I cannot imagine better color than black on some knives, like bolstered Persians, but I would love to see more G10 knives in dark green, orange, dark blue. Also I would love to see more knives with polished G10 handles and FRN textured like Cento3 & 4. Color of the handle is the primary reason why I bought Stag Arms Manix. I would love to see one of my favorites (Native5 or Caly) in this color. Green micarta like on Hossoms is great (I bought this one only because I love the handle :o ).

My top choices Natives5, Calys, C83 Persian

Color by all means (love my blue Sage2, orange UKPK sprint, and yellow Ladybug Hawkbill), but, as Matisse once wrote, black is also a color ;)

I have always liked Spyderco because of their unique, off the beaten path way of doing things. I love their un-conventional designs and the fact they go where no other knife company even dares to venture.

The colored handles on many of their models are fine by me and I even like them. Especially the yellow handles on the Salt Series are great to look at and are very handy in case you would lose or misplace one and makes them much easier to find.

I would love to see much more colored G-10 and Micarta both. But I tend to like things that are different and unique. I also like things that may not necessarily look good but are well engineered and are made for specific purposes ( Hawkbills being an excellent example :cool :)

I am a sucker for military colors, such as Desert Tan or Foliage Green.

Interesting answers. Even though there's a wide variety of opinions, three categories seem to particularly stand out :

_ the classic-and-classy bunch, who appreciate subdued, natural colours (forest green, brown, dark blue etc.);
_ the Henry Ford followers ("grey is flashy enough");
_ the jesters ("there's no such thing as too vivid").

Good points about the visibility and the less threatening looks of brightly coloured knives. I'll keep that in mind as an excuse for my future purchases.

By the way, why aren't there any red handled Spydercos (except for trainer models) ? It seems rather odd, red being quite a popular colour these days.

And it's not as if it was unheard of : after all, most folding knives all over the world do have red handles (SAKs).
Which, in fact, might explain Spyderco's decision...

Whilst i do like black (as the colour in general & as a colour for knife handles) I also like some of the other coloured handles on offer. In particular I like the charcoal coloured FRN handle on the endura 4 wave... that is an awesome colour for a knife handle imo!

I would also totally buy a red handled centofante3! nice image editing juggler! :D

I'd be all for a red carbon fiber Manix 2 :cool: I EDC the black one. I like it so much that I have two. If it came out in red I would buy at least two... maybe three.

Thanks. It does look good, doesn't it ? A more subdued tone (burgundy?) might be even better :

I am beginning to appreciate colors more and more. I still think it depends on the knife to an extent, but whereas I would have opted for black exclusively at one time, I am starting to mix things up a bit …

p.s. That burgundy Cento 3 looks amazing … !

I'm definitely in the 'jesters' group, I love the colored spydies and to me they can't be too vivid. I like variety, so I'm always trying to get at least one of every spydie handle color made. I like both flashy yellow, blue and purple, but I also appreciate the subdued tan, foliage green and digicam pattern. I can always match a spydie to the pants or trunks it's going to be clipped to. :D

The bright red color is reserved for trainers, to prevent accidents. But the red on the Persion sprint run is a nice substitute.

Wouter, I'm not sure if the restriction on red handles applies to all Spyderco knifes, or just the ones where a trainer is available (or may be considered). I'm thinking it might be a no-go for the Manix 2, but ok for models like the Ladybug and Centofante 3.
