I am not surprised with Manbug price:machined G10 scales, bolsters. Just remember how much Kiwis and Kopas cost. But to shell-out $70+ for this knife I have to love it and gray G10 is a deal breaker for me.
LionSpy price looks like an error for me, we saw such errors with KC before. In the past they were offering like small discount, with is better than just "I am sorry".
I really like the price for Schempp's Rock.

Agree, not a chance...

Is it my imagination or have they got the photos of the Cat & Chicago round the wrong way? The Chicago was always the one with the smaller blade wasn't it?

A Squeak for $44.95 ... I'll have a few of those if it gets to the UK without too much mark-up :)

The interesting thing is that you can get a Dragonfly G-10 for about the same price.

I pre-ordered the LionSpy from KC at the $159 price, but I will probably cancel it now that the price is up to $300. For less that $100 more I can get an all-titanium SR1. I'll probably hold off a few days and see if I get any communications from KC about the price change, but next time I order something I'll be cancelling the pre-order.

Yes, the Cat has the longer blade of the two. Looks like they got the photos mixed up.

I'd agree with Teddy and JNewell on KC and the LionSpy. Let's be real, if anyone missed their daughter's wedding, or even a new episode of Dancing with the Stars they dearly wanted to see, in order to put in an order for a regular production Spyderco not due out for three months, they're an idiot and undeserving of sympathy. Only thing I think KC should definitely do, if they haven't already, is send an email to everyone who ordered a LionSpy alerting them to the price correction and apologizing for the error.

As for new model prices in general, almost everything is going up. Last bag of coffee I bought was nearly $4 more expensive than the one before and gas is up over a buck a gallon in the past few months. Plus, while KC is a good shop, they've never been know for the lowest prices around.

Agreed, a simple note about the price change would be fine by me. Not angry or anything, mistakes happen, just sad that I won't score a crazy good deal. :( :D I'm not going to go all lawyer on them and demand that they honor the original pre-order price.

KC usually charges a few dollars more than other online retailers. I generally go with them because they are local (orders typically show up the next business day), across state lines (so I don't pay sales tax), and they have never let me down when it comes to hard-to-get Spyderco models.

Understood, my shop of choice is New Graham and they don't offer the lowest price on the 'net either, just top flight service. :)

I noticed something about the shoppe that has the ed schempp ROCK for 25 dollars less.....they dont have the lionspy up for preorder yet. Definetly inquiring on starting the preorder and how much they plan on selling it for given their lower prices :-D
I have to admit i was pretty upset about the price change like that even though it was an obvious mistake, but with every negative comes a positive (you just have to find the silver lining). If all this wouldnt have happened the idea light bulb probably wouldnt have turned on lol. hopefully it works out.

Did anyone else notice that the 20CP Para2 is still up for pre-order on that page?

Jeff told me he doesn't do preorders anymore when I asked a month ago.

KC called me and the price jumped form $160 to $320. The Lionspy has dropped to the bottom of my list again.

Ill just have to keep my eye on cutlery shoppes website then, because i believe their price will be lower than everyone else.

Quick followup: Tom from KC called me about an hour ago regarding the LionSpy pre-order and explained the pricing error. Very polite and apologetic. I decided to cancel my pre-order for now and wait and see how things play out with the LionSpy over the next couple months. He said that they saw the thread on the forums last night and wanted to reach out and contact everyone who pre-ordered at the lower price in order to explain the mistake.

Since the LionSpy sounds like a regular production item, I think we will be able shop around a little for the best price once they are released and all the pre-orders have been satisfied. I wasn't all that interested based on the initial estimated price, but I thought "why not" when I saw the original KC price yesterday. Now I'm back to wait and see mode.

Pretty sure it'll be $269.97 at CS. If you notice, they discount all their Spydies by 46%. So just take the MSRP, do a little math, and you can see what it'll likely cost. As noted, Jeff usually doesn't do preorders, so you just have to keep your eyes open for when stuff shows up on his site. That's just the price you pay for paying the lower price.

Yeesh, good thing I don't live in the states, or I'd go broke (well more broke) in an instant.
