This is a SAD SAD day
2011 Discontinued Products
Helping a fellow forum member and Spyderco enthusiast to save a buck or two in these tough economic times should be welcomed and encouraged, IMHO.

UKPK series might be having issue because the UK import folks have been getting very...ornery...about things of late from what I have heard. Plenty of reports from other boards where their perfectly legal shipments are being stopped for months (and months) on end if you're lucky or simply being impounded as illegal with minimal chances of any legal action going through effectively.
Last I heard they confiscated a FRN UKPK as gravity knife, not sure how that one ended.psychophipps wrote:UKPK series might be having issue because the UK import folks have been getting very...ornery...about things of late from what I have heard. The case of the seized UKPK FRN is still under appeal (I was involved in helping the owner structure a defence against the seizure) but the owner was contacted recently and the Customs official was fairly confident that it was legal. We are keeping our fingers crossed that it was all just a mistake.
Commercial imports have never been challenged by Customs - even for locking Spyderco knives. I presume this is because they know that a business would fight tooth and nail to defend their business and would take it through the courts - and probably win. Private imports are a soft target as 90% of people don't know the law well enough to contest a seizure anyway.
Private imports have recently got through with no more reports of seizures. US traders have just been asked to tighten the pivots so that the knives cannot be flicked open. This should satisfy Customs that they are not "gravity knives" and then it is up to the importer what tension they put on the pivot when they receive the knife.
Personally, I don't think the very few seizures had anything to do with the disco-ing of the UKPK ... the sales have been very good but I just suspect that Sal has got a few more SLIPITs in the pipeline that will replace the old ones. :)

CS in this context stands for Cutlery Shoppe, an online knife dealer.

That deal is REALLY tempting, but I've already killed my knife budget for the year and beyond! I used to jump on deals like this one, but since you guys got me hooked on Sprints, I have to be more selective with my purchases.SmoothOne25 wrote:dont forget to get a 39!!!! dollar ps stretch! :p
