Haven't gotten my email from Spydietalk. Hope it comes because I paid for this one in advance.

I emailed spydietalk last week just to get an idea of when it would ship. He said that there were about 20 people before me, and they were getting them at a rate of about ten per week, so i'll get mine either this week or next.
PS: I ordered mine on 9/15/10

I, too, emailed Spydietalk and got a response. Not sure if I will be able to get one because of limited availability but it was good that they replied to my message.

Interesting, because he is selling to whoever wants to bid the highest on Ebay right now.

They don't actually charge your credit card until they ship the knife do they?

I'm gonna guess that, like me, he payed via PayPal, which charges right away. I put my order in on the 9th, so hopefully I'll be in on the next batch.

I still believe that 700 will be enough for everybody, who really want and put some efforts to get one at decent price, may be a little higher than $133 at Spydietalk, but not much. Even e-bay prices do not look that bad now and they should go down. Some dealers just start to receive them.

Like a lot of things in life, when collecting knives you have to set your priorities and accept the consequences of your choices. If always getting the lowest price is your top priority, you will miss out on some of the low volume pieces. If getting those pieces is your top priority, then establishing a long term relationship with a trustworthy dealer is the best way to achieve your goal even though you will pay a bit more.

Thanks, the dealers I work with don't charge until they actually have the knife and are ready to ship so it does seem odd to me. I would certainly be frustrated if I paid in advance then saw my dealer listing and selling on ebay before he fulfilled the commitment to me.

Totally agree. That dealer seems like a real piece of work.

Looks like they are getting to other dealers now. I found ten in stock at Hand-Tools. :spyder:

Sage observations indeed. I can be slow on the uptake at times and I am just starting to figure this out. A past history of violent sports has taken its toll on my gray matter (i.e. too many hits to the head).

The sprints really put dealers in a bind sometimes because they have the unenviable task of having to tell customers "no". I don't see an easy solution to this. As a customer, the relationship-bulding process is probably the best thing that one can do.

I talked with Spidietalk before I placed my order with him and he said that he was getting 60 of them. Then I talked with him after he got them in and said he only had 10 of them and more were coming in and I would have to wait for the 20 or so orders to be filled first. Now that I see he has some on Ebay it does tick me off a bit.

I can assure you this knife will not be sold on the bay. Auction went up when we were expecting a certain number of them. When the auction has bids you can't cancel. This will go to the next person in line on our site, not ebay.

As a previous poster indicating, I paid via Paypal. Mike Smith at Spyditalk indicated that refunds would be granted if and when they determine if they will receive enough Persians to fulfill the orders that have been placed. Mike seems like a solid dude so I trust this.

Agree 100% with Deacon.

Or sometimes a solid relationship or two can actually cost you less.

Got mine today (knifecenter). I was really worried when it arrived - the box was wet and looked like a dog had mauled it. Luckily they had packed it in enough paper that the box and knife were dry.

It's a very nice knife - definitely the C83 model (3" cutting edge). Fits the hand perfectly. I'm probably going to try and fashion some burl scales for it sometime later. The only downside I see is that there aren't any washers at all and the blade to a handle fit is very tight. The wider part of the blade hits the scale if you push on the spydie hole to open it on mine.
