FORMATING:
Sorry I should have included this initially. Landscape format is preferable in a minimum 8-1/2 X 11" 300 dpi format. When you post your submission, you'll have to downsize it to fit the parameters for posting here. Those guidelines are smaller than what we need to actually print the calendar in high resolution. This is why we ask you to save your submission in a large, high resolution format on your computer until the winners are chosen.

SUBJECT MATTER:
The knife or knives in your art can be anything Spyderco; new, old, discontinued, radically modified etc...

Great pictures so far. Keep 'em coming!

Hmm... guess I'll have to make my light tent now. I've only had supplies sitting there for a couple months.

That means at least 3300 x 2550 pixel which are a little more than 8 Megapixels and that means I can stop to worry which picture to choose. :(

My old Canon is only capable of 2816 x 2112 pixels (6MP) which would equal ~250 dpi at 8.5 x 11 inches :(

****!

Cheers, Rob

I'd say, if you have a good quality picture, that 250 dpi would be quite acceptable, and if you really had to get to 300 dpi, you could upsample in Photoshop without lacking too much detail.

Now, if that was from a 6MP cell-phone camera, I don't think it would be satisfactory :) but my first Nikon DSLR was only 6MP (D70) and it produced quite good pictures.

Now, of all the ideas I have floating around in my head of possible photos, if I can actually bring it to fruition I might have something to submit :) The clock is ticking!

That is plenty big. All you need to do is change the numbers in Photoshop a little bit and you can easily get the required resolution, dpi and page sizes. It's so close already that the little bit of upscaling it might need won't have a negative impact on image quality. If you need help, PM me and I can do the rescaling for you.

Well, guess I’ll have to post to this thread so I get reminders in email so I don’t forget about it.

After some resizing, and filtering I managed to get my entry to a size which meets the stated requirements. So my entry is this one - a C94GPDK - DK Penknife:

Image

I can either provide the original picture with 2816 x 2112 pixels (~ 11" x 8.5" @ 250 dpi) or an upscaled (interpolated) version of 3408 x 2555 pixels (~ 11" x 8.5" @ 300 dpi) if needed. I hope that's sufficient.... :(

Cheers, Rob

Here's my entry...
