I agree with Sal's thoughts regarding small high performance knives. And that a small sharp blade is very useful, easy to carry and socially friendly.

However, I would also like to bring up the idea of low cost...especially considering today's economy! It's a lot easier to spend $30 on a new knife than it is $60, $90, etc. There are very few HP (high perf) knives at this price point. Many posts here talk about buying a Ladybug for someone else, one of the main reasons they can do that is because LBKs are affordable. Side benefit is that the person getting the gift sees what a Spydie is all about and gets an appretion for HP knives.

So my thoughts on new models are:

Purple - cool, I may get one.

H1 Yellow - thanks for listening, I am getting several. Please offer H1 in black FRN.

Foliage Green - yup, love this color. Will get one.

British Racing Green ZDP - Wow, this would be amazing. As long as the cost is "close" to the current ones...sign me up. This is a great idea.

G-10 handle - not so much.

Carbon Fiber handle - only if it's the shiny CF...nice pocket jewlery! Watch the cost.

Slip-joint version - nope.

Bolstered version w/ bone scales (think mini-Dyad) - I would love one. I've wanted the little Dyad for a while but $100+ has kept me away.

Thanks for listening.

I would like to see a Ladybug with some type of clip. I love my Boker Keycom because I can clip my keys to my pants.

This thread got me all hot and bothered and I just had to buy two oranges and a purple! THANKS ALOT YOU GUYS!!!

There isn't much a ladybug can't handle. Especially if you get a two finger lanyard on the back of that baby!

I think sticking with colored frn would be best. Even some cool swirl colors or something. I would like to see some zdp or S90V on one of these badboys.

I would also love to see the lime green that the Jester had on a ladybug.

I wouldn't mind a burgundy micarta one to match my Jester ...

Titanium with visible pins like the Titanium Delica would also be great ...

What about S90v then? Does Golden have the tooling for the ladybug?

Or an S90v Jester Sprint?

A foliage green or H1 yellow ladybug 'hawkbill' would be nice.

Anything can be made out of any steel, but whether or not the value will be there becomes the question. S90V is difficult to work with. Smaller pieces are even more difficult to work with. You would have to pay a premium for the material, processing costs and a premium for the small size.

In addition, we would have to purchase a very large amount of steel in a very thin size. Limited market means we sit on a lot of money in steel.

Ladybug tooling is in Seki. S30V is a USA made steel. Japanese foundries have excellent steels and it isn't practical to ship steel to Seki.

Now that the H1 ladybug is coming out, The only thing it is missing is the spyderco clip-it.

I am surprised that more people have not requested a ladybug with a clip

I think soul of ladybug its VG-10 blade its a very good material and like Sal said other steel are very expansive so this want increase the price of ladybug,
i agree with some other users i think a clip want be nice!
I prefer some other colors in FRN i think FRN, back lock, anf VG-10 its the best mix!
Of course one hakwbill want be nice, but i think the traditional blade so small want be more practical..

But i remark hakwbill want be nice too!

A sprint of burgundy micarta like the Jester or even a re-incarnation of the carbon fiber model would be nice.

Personally, I'd be happy with just a few more color variations of the FRN version.
How about something in blue to match the upcoming FRN Stretch? Foliage Green I'm sure would be popular. I have a purple one on order already with plans to get a yellow H1 model as well.

Hmmmm....how about an update of the old LB II with VG10 steel and maybe an orange or blue handle?

I think the slip joint is a very good idea. It can give it nice new markets like the UK and Israel where locking blades are not really legal.

Slip join in H-1
Slip joint in regular VG-10
Maybe even bring back the sheepfoot?

Sounds like ZDP-189 is a natural then. I would like to see a super thin, flat ground version. A little pocket razor of a knife that's more durable than a disposable box cutter.
As a side note, can FRN be made as a mixture of two colors in some sort of a swirl pattern?
