Also....according to this link here .... http://www.wilkins-knives.com/materials_e.html

It looks like your blade is "pale green" and not olive green? maybe I am mistaken
I'm curious to know, what's disappointing about it?

George,

Thanks so very much for the extra pics. Seeing that it will be made in Golden, Colorado that will be an awesome knife. I do plan on saving up for that knife. I will own one for sure. That looks like an all around perfect size knife for EDC and even office carry.

Looking forward to this knife a great deal.

i always loved Kevin's knives, in every "what is you dream collaboration" poll, my vote went to him, I'm vary happy to see it wasn't for nothing :D
i REALLY hope i would be able to find one here in israel, green G-11 and Ti, just perfect

anyone knows if the production model will have the mechanized groove in the G-11 like in GMaggos's pics?

Actually I was more disappointed with with opening than the closing. Granted, this was the Only seb I've ever handled (defect?)... but after having it for a week I sold it on ebay and took a $75 hit to the wallet on it. It was just NOT easy to open or close. I pictured situations where i might need the knife in an emergency and almost every time I drew the knife from my pocket I could NOT open it first time. I also noticed I found myself closing the knife with 2 hands almost everytime as well.

Where as my caly 3 I could open in a splt second and close in a split second like butter, for 1/4 of the cost of the seb.

Thats the reason why I questioned the ease of closing with this knife. I know it will be easy to open because of the :spyder: hole, but closing I was just curious on. I also know that when its made in Golden it should be just that, Golden - but it's not like chris sebenza knives are run of the mill beginner blades either.

Eitherway, I will be buying this knife for sure. It is the perfect size for me. I've been waiting for this moment for a long time

that's a sweet looking knife ... just my preference but I hope the :spyder: version isn't chisel ground and has a deep hollow or full flat ground blade

Hey Dan, curiosity is killing me, what's a GP cooks mean? that Large Ryback seems Spydersaw sized :p

Wanted to order a custom Wilkins blae last year, but he stopped taking orders (prolly to work on this collab). The Leafstorm looks to be a great little workhorse. Really love that translucent G11 too. I love his orange G10s as well.

We're planning the lightweight version. The color is the natural color of G10/G11. It is industrial circuit board material.

Engineering is complete. We're just trying to fit production in into our schedule in Golden. It really is a beautiful design and a very optimal size for city carry.

On the leafstorm design i like to put some remarks.

Kevin Wilkins just delivers small amounts of folders every year as he is committed to other projects i suppose.
The last leafstorm we have seen in pictures was one of a 3 piece batch. He was very lucky gettin one of those as they run sparce every year. The one he got was the only chiselground of the 3 piece lot. the other 2 ones had a both edge side hollow grind. Wilkins blades come in supreme steels to his liking at that moment available. He chooses the best steel for the knive he feels appropiate. fe N690 bohler 59-61 hrc Becut Remscheid hrc 58-59 and some other excellent steels like BG 42

I think Sal will put a flatgrind edge like the Caly3/ military blade or a hollowgrind on this co op.
That is not a chisel grind as they come very rare on blades. to my opinion because this type of grind/edge have some negative side effects

Yes the knife I have is Number 3 on the web page & it was the last one available of the 3 I stated that in a earlier post : )

Sal, I love this size knife I work in a big city & dont need any problems because of blade size & since it is the lightweight model will the G10/G11 handle you use be completely flat or will it be machined in 3D levels like Wilkins does on his lightweight handle?
Also whatever blade steel you use for it in Golden what type of grind will it be a full flat grind or?

Sal, yes photos of the prototype would be great if there are any?

The steel on my chisel ground blade is Bohler N690 Stainless with an RC rating of 59-60 according to my paperwork. Yes I was lucky to find it available & yes it is the Number 3 knife.

i congratulate You on gettin a wilkins folder as they are hard to get. Keep it as an investment . just my 2c......................
I did not want to put a negative feeling to this thread: i just don't like chisel grinds on knives. i prefer them on Chisels ...
On knives i prefer an edge on both sides of the blade.
So be happy about having a rare one . In a decade your one will make some money.... i guess..
