I tried. It turned out better overall with the better white one from Padawan.
Ill give it another shot once I cool my jets. Just doing this almost made me knock my monitor off the desk. :o Image
I wish I could remember what I did the first time around, the chrome looks much better on it.

Padawan, I seem to be in the minority as I don't care for the looks of bolsters on a Calypso Jr ..... an ivory micarta version of my Aus8 black micarta calypso jr. would make me more than happy.... :)

I would love to see one aswell. But I honestly don't see it happening. I hope that Im wrong, :)

I noticed on that picture I edited that the jimpin is far from even, I guess it was the prototype.

Bark river has some really nice looking antique ivory micarta. Take a long look at the maroon linen micarta as well ;)

I still think black&green linen, maroon or natural canvas micarta would look better though :p

Brian, I'm 100 % with you]Caly 3 is not the knife for bolsters[/U]. Sorry for all bolster-enthusiasts, that's my opinion and I've to say this.

I guess that makes me part of the minority also, as I very much like the way the knife looks with plain white/cream/ivory Micarta scales and no bolsters. I think it would look extra nice with some sort of patina forming on a carbon steel blade. :)

I so no to Bolsters as well. I like bolsters a lot, but for the Caly 3 it seems very imporbable and doesn't look right. I'm all for the ivory/white micarta though.

So you already have what you want, a plain-handle Caly3! Be happy. Some of us like bolsters, that's what would make us happy. Sorry for all the plain-handle enthusiasts, the Caly 3 has wonderful design potential for bolsterizing. (Whether it's feasible is a different question.) That's my opinion and I've to say this.

Warm? Hot!

Warm? Hot. It's smokin, firey hot. That's perfect. That's the one. An up-sized Kopa, if you will.

Hehe, looks like we stirred up a little friendly competition(?) Peter... :p
Yeah, I like certain knives with bolsters.... like I've got an Al Mar Hawk folder which looks great with bolsters...as does the Kopas.....
but aesthetically, speaking I prefer the Calypso Jr. bolsterless! ;)
since i only have the Zdp versions of the Jess Horn.....that one I could see liking it with bolsters....if it ever gets another sprint run....

Nice one too Brian.
And so it all boils down to a kind of "feel" about a knife.
I think we are tickling the very heart of our sweet madness.
The nice thing is that it can be so personal.
There is allways something beautiful for each and everyone.

Thankya. Thats exactly how I see it in my mind. Id also pay money that I don't have to see it in my hand. But that doesn't look likely unless its a custom job. :o
