"Can" being the keyword there. Judging a steel based on its carbon content alone is not an acurate way to gauge its performance.

Thank you for speaking up for me; indeed, I already knew that "adamantium" was fictitious. I collected Wolverine and X-Men comic books all through the late '80s and early '90s... :p

It depends...
Rocktead Knives are in Zdp189 steel too. You can see a guy chopping bambous then slicing sheets of paper without problem in their website.

No, I would NOT liike all Spyderco knives to be ZDP, as I like a variety of blade materials!! I love S30V & VG10.... I do enjoy the Sprint Runs, as it is fun to get one of those.

Different steels will have different pros and cons. One steel doesn't fit all applications so no, I don't think they should all be ZDP-189. It worked excellently in the Calypso Jr. IMHO.

I just received my ZDP Delica today in the post-TWO WORKING DAYS after I ordered it from the US. I live in the UK-gotta love NGKs service :P

Actually the knife chopping the bamboo uses a steel called YXR7. They do offer a knife that uses ZDP-189 laminated with ATS34. This is what they say about that one:

"Our three-layer knife is not as strong as our YXR7 type knife, but its sharpness is unsurpassed. This type of knife has two unique characteristics ? the Kitano Edge and mirror surface. However, we do not recommend it for usage as rough as the YXR7 can handle. In any case, it will seldom nick."

The "Kitano Edge" is interesting. Here are some other Japanese FBs and folders that also have ZDP-189/ATS34 blades, and, apparently, the Kitano Edge.

Definatly not all spyderco models. Heck half the reason I buy Spydies is the INSANE anounts of variaty they offer.
