We're working on the first proto to test.

Hi Sverre, I tend to agree which means H-1 might be in qeustion, so we're going back to square one. We'll work the design first, then deal with material.

Thats good, I was a bit concerned how a hollow grind would hold up to tomahawk use.

I hope this one has real chopping ability, which seems to be lacking in most tomahawks on the market. Yet still be lightweight for hiking

Nice to know Sal :)

I've grown up with carbon steel axes and corrosion hasn't really been an issue, so sacrificing grind for corrosion resistance wouldn't have made sense for my use.

Hope you guys can make it to the UK sometime in fall, had a great time with all of you the last time in Leeds.

Oh, yes, you may say it again! Despite your impressive collection of Spydies ;)

While I'm not very eager on a tomahawk, I'd like Spyderco to produce a small axe (compact, lightweight and comfortable), something you can take easily with you on hiking and such...

This isn't a utility tomahawk, but it's more my kind of thing being "tactical" and everything. That being said, this thing is a monster, I plan to buy one soon. S7 steel? check. .4 in thick? .

Anyway, I know it's just wishful thinking, but Spyderco could come out with 2 different types of tomahawk. There could be the utility/camp tomahawk and something along the lines of what I posted above.

How cool would that be? I'd buy em' both! :D

Thanks for the response, Sal. I'm glad this project is still alive. Do you think a 2010 release date is possible?

Glad to hear it's being worked on! I would love to see something tactical and practical - something along the lines of the Vector hawks with the hollow handles http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showt ... p?t=642704

Either way, I'm very interested!

I like Vector hawk stuff also. I'm thinking to mix Gransfor Bruks French tomahawk with Vector handle... Spyderco 'hawk? I'm interested.

I like the way you're thinking! I bet Spyderco could put some teeth on the underside of the head, like the way some of the tactical hawks have sharpened undersides. How cool would that be??

We have a model made. A beginning to size, weight and shape of design.

I'll be testing it this summer. I cut wood for winter wood burning.

YAY! Any other details you can give out like handle material or length? Will it be integral or a separate head and handle?

Yeah, I'm pretty stoked about this one.
