Hi Sal and thank you for your deep interest in what we have to say...
I carry a Grey Caly Jr on work days.
I always have a forest green Jester on Key chain (It makes it look more like a crocodile than black :p )
I carry a stock Persian on week end (But wouldn't mind the Micarta being replaced with Tiger coral or Blue Labradorite)
I really look forward the Blue Delica ZDP-189 to replace the Caly Jr. and I hope it won't be Light blue but more of a dark blue jeans blue!!!
Would have EDC 'ed the Caly Burgundy, but was too late!!!
Hope it helps

I use and carry a blue Dodo, the grey-blue coloured waved endura ( great knife btw) i also have a lime jester on my keychain. My opinion is that colour is only appropriate on sheeple friendly models. Some knives keep scaring people even with a flashy colour (spyderfly) :D

Nothing new to add. I like
non-flashy, subdued colors for most EDC knife handles - black, gray, blue-gray, dark green, it does not matter. Black is fine. It's a gonna get gray anyway from use, fade, etc.
The only knife I have purchased recently based on handle color is my Pacific Salt in yellow. Easier to see in the field when I drop it or put it down or when it falls out of my pocket (lost my Salt I that way

).
Not asked, but I also prefer standard satin finish blades and not black blades. Most folks associate black blades with up-to-no-good.
color=good

If given the
choice I'll buy a colored handle knife over black. I carry a Blue SE Dodo, bought a Blue Rescue Jr. for my wife, and carry an OD green old style SE Endura. If the colors are butch enough

(IE; not pink, pastel blue) I'll buy it gladly over black every time!! :D
Cheers,
Rob

At work today a burgandy caly Jr. It alternates with my patriotic kopa and Grey caly jr. Weekends it a blue weave PM. I'd carry a PM with red (gunting trainer shade) G10. Something that is close to the standard victronix (sp) SAK. Most people accept this color without any questions. I had a negative reaction to my black caly jr at work one day

I haven't seen it done but how about useing orange or yellow resin and black fibers so the scale will be yellow but have small lines of black running through them.
That would look pretty sweet.

I mostly carry black and draw the line at black/blue/grey for Zytel or G10. I might consider green/brown Micarta, depending on the knife. I have as strong preference for black clips though.

If given the choice I always opt for the colored variations. I have a sizeable carry rotation, so I don't carry a single colored FRN folder. The burgundy calypso is the most often carried FRN right now. I bought it for the color more than the steel. I EDC'd a Li'l Temp pretty consistently for a year or two, together with a green Chinese folder. I replaced them with a blue Dodo and Yojimbo. I love the Kopas, and will add more to my collection, just for the colors.
I prefer colors for both practical reasons, takes the 'edge' of the 'scary' knife, as well as the variation that it adds to my collection.
Personally, I'd like to see some outregeous colors. I'd buy 3 or 4 pink Delica 4's. Also, I like bright colors on some of the more tactical models; like bright purple or green on a Civilian or Chinook. Just like certain animals in nature, the colors communicate "watch it, I have poison!". I perfectly understand that this is not a commercially feasible wish, and in the mean time I'll scoop up any colors that come out of Golden.

Count me in for more color options. My EDC right now is a blue mini-griptillian (I just got a blue Dodo, too, though I'm waiting on a new set of clip screws before I can carry it).
Originally, I didn't think I'd like the benchmade griptillian colors, which are more towards the pastel, but they've kind of grown on me (I even got a lime-green one for my sister).
If I want a more discreet carry, I can always go with one of my many black-handled spydercos.
I think, though, the best of both worlds would be a low-profile clip paired with a brightly-colored handle -- that way, it stays out of sight in pocket, and it looks more friendly when you're using it.

As EDC I carry a black FRN Delica II - the reason is, that I have a job (I sell investment goods) where it is not a good image to "visuable" carry any knife. Sorry, but this is a fact
But in my collection I own a red SnapIt, a yellow Rescue and a bluegrey waved Endura. I intend to buy also any colored Delica in future.
I hope that Mr. Glesser will give us (collectors) more colored models :p , but I can understand, when Mr. Glesser says, that this will no be enough revenue or margin.

the more plain, basic and dark the color the more i like it. i enjoy black. i also find that different texturing of the frn can either add to the knife's appeal or make it look and feel of a lesser quality.(i like the frn caly jr. and sometimes wish the delica handle was as refined.) i think certain color and texture com-bo's appeal to me more than others. i think it's never quite as simple as just color. in addittion, i would like to say i know the spyderco folks have already no doubt considered all this and absolutely everything, including color preference, is subjective. :)
funny thing...i honestly know i would buy a lime green delica...  :D

Have you handled the new Delica 4 yet? You may be pleasantly surprised at the difference in the handle. It's like night and day with the old one.

Well, I don't carry an FRN knife on a daily basis, but I do like colors. I own a green Jester, a burgundy Calypso Jr., a blue Dodo, a blue Delica, an orange Rescue Jr., and a yellow Pacific Salt. I own and carry (as part of my EDC rotation) a custom folder by Ed Caffrey with red and blue G10 and I have a Strider SnG with green G10. My favorite neck knife (by Tom Krein) has green micarta scales.
There's nothing wrong with black FRN (or G10); in fact it hides dirt better. It's just not as interesting.

There are few angles to look at this color choice: collector's, EDC, sports/fishing/LE/EMS, etc.
I can see the collectors' desire to have the widest array of colors, especially if one is dedicated to one or few models only.
Always craving for colors, yet not being a collector, my personal choice and reasoning is for the colors fitting with the environment/wardrobe. That's why I'm leaning towards unobscure colors as grey, OD, maybe tan and blue (jeans). My need is for the knife not to be noticed while carried. I don't want to make a statement "I have a knife and here it is", but rather have it integrated and not obvious. That's one of the reasons I would not EDC SS handled knife screaming "I'm a big chunk of sharp metal".
On the other hand, for the variety and as the gifts - mostly to introduce sheeple to knives - I would opt for 'friendlier' colors, like yellow, orange and the like.
Someone's suggestion for the 'nature' colors is also very interesting.

I think the D4 is much more refined than the Caly Jr.
