John - That certainly sounds like a nice knife. However, I suspect that it might be just a tad over $80. In fact, I'd probably have to sell myself into prostitution in order to pay for it.

But seriously, if I could impose my will on the universe, the forum knife would be a Calypso Jr. with a liner lock and a Ti handle. There would be geometric anodizing on the handle and "Spyderco Forum '00" etched on the blade.

Great idea Clay for the Spyderforum Knife.

Mhhh, plain edge, pearl or colored G10 (I prefer the G10, because I cannot imagine how the pearl looks like (scan possible ?)) with engraved 'Spyderco Forum 2000' (or something similar; engraved name would be much cooler than a serial number + no envy amongst the owners) : great, if my wallet can bear it (how much $$$$ ?) and they can be shipped to Europe.

Philip - There are some pics of the "sea change" pearl/G10 handles on James Mattis' site (www.chaicutlery.com). They are featured on the Vesuvius prototype model.

The handles certainly look good in the scans. It will be interesting to see how they look (and feel) in person though.

Thanks Cerulean, you mean the greenish stuff ?
If so : drool, drool, ... great !! Visually much cooler (read : looking exclusive) than coloured G10
Looks terribly expensive though ...
I have to say the Vesuvius certainly looks great in this outfit, I wonder whether it is (reasonably) resistant or just for showing off.
If I can afford it, you can count me in for a plain Centofante Jr in green pearl, with personalized engraving if possible.

I just read on the Bladeforum that James Mattis' sea change G10 did get a lot of use. Did the handle stand up to it ? If so, all the better.

Hopping around on James' site (phew, so many Spydies ; great site) I came across the following picture : http://www.chaicutlery.com/BladeShow200 ... hoices.jpg
The gold one certainly shines ...

I'd just like to add my support in favor of a pearl-handled Centofante Jr. For such a commemorative piece, I think the design should be one that has garnered unequivocal support from users, and one that we wouldn't be ashamed to hand to our dear old grandmothers, or our impressionable grandchildren. The Centofante, with its utilitarian, yet sleek design fits the bill, especially when set apart by the latest innovations in handle material from the company it commemorates. Two cents submitted...

I'll vote for the colored G-10

OK so here's a running tally. I make it 20 votes for the pearl and 6 for coloured G10. My preference would be for the "plain" (white) pearl but then I'm a bit of a traditionalist or, as my kid's say, an old stick-in-the-mud .

Sal, how much interest would we need to start seriously considering this?

Hi Clay. I guess 52 posts does verify that you are a trouble maker.

I'll check with Mfg for a number. I would like to do a small run 100 - 200 (+ the 200 for collectors) just to see if we can.

Jeff (Our General Manager) said that it should be something rare and special. He suggested a Military Model in Black G10 With a G10 shell inlay of the "totem" necklace that I wear. He suggested making about 400 pcs. 200 for collectors and 200 for the Spyderco forumites. $120 net.

opinions?

Sal,
I vote YES! That is if scantily clad tigers and wild women etched on the blades are out of the question! LOL

Sal, I read over at BF that the Military was being modified to accept the Compression lock. Would the forum knife have the new lock? If so, I would certainly be up for one, although I would prefer a colour other than black. How about dark burgundy G10? I agree that the knife should be something rare and special. Of course that doesn't mean that I'll stop agitating for a pearl Centofante . Then there's those burgundy Calypso Ltwt's I was going to hassle Michelle about .

John, as an animal lover I have strong objections to seeing them exploited and portrayed in a state of undress, of course wild women are entirely a different matter .

Hi Clay. We would use the current model and produce the forum piece bfore the change over, making it more rare and collectable.

Making a custom color in G10 requires very large volume.

Count me in on either a pearl handled Centofante or the Military with inlay.
A damascus blade would make either one truly special.
