I discovered G-Shocks about three weeks ago and since then have bought a DW-5600E, a DW-9000 MultiBand Mudman and a G-5600 Tough Solar. :rolleyes:

I have sold the Mudman to a work colleague and I think I am going to sell the G-5600, as I have decided than one for work is enough! That will be the DW5600E.

I wish that Casio would bring out a UK/Europe compatible GW-5600.

As one who is addicted to high end watch collecting, I still Love G-Shocks. They can't be beat for Durability, and with the Atomic addition, Accuracy!!
I picked up a new one today a GW500A-1V.....Solar and Atomic.....There is a whole new World of Cool G-Shocks out there!!!

Hey Guys - how nice to see this old post being revived again. Many moons have passed since I last posted here.
Time for an update, I think. Well, my interest in G-shocks has never died but it dissapeared more and more into the background. Many things happened over the last three years. Í retired from the military after 36 years. Got on the road for Spyderco and, and, and.
Until just recently, I did with just two remaining EDC watches of which only one is a G-shock and the other one is a Citizen military watch with Solar power. the model 2750 with a blue wristband and face.
Just last month, the Casio 25th Anniversary collection was released and I could not resist to secure me a fantastic G-Schock AWG-525 with the new 5-band multi wave atomic time and solar power. I love this watch.

I got most of my g-shocks from Seiya-san who does an outstanding job maintaining his website with japanese watches including many g-shocks.
The next one will be the new 5-band multi wave/ solarpower Gulfman. This is an all digital model and it robs me my sleep since weeks.

Well, this is the state of affairs as of right now. Probably later this Summer I'll get the Gulfman and, and, and.... For now it was getting the custom made Kevin Wilkins Leafstorm and a limited Buck "Duke" with mastodon ivory scales....

Funny to see how many 'knife people' also tend to be into pens, watches, flashlights, outdoor gear and other assorted gadgets and gizmo's.
(I, by the way, fall in all the above categories...I think it's a medical condition ;-))
Up to a couple of years ago I was the proud owner of a nice steel housed G-Shock, until some local gentlemen forcefully 'relieved' me of it after I stumbled home after a somewhat drunken night on the town. Still miss it. It was the first watch I paid for myself, and I had had it for almost 10 years.
The above resulted in me looking at getting another digital sporty watch for some time.
I never really found something that appealed to me in the same way as my old Casio, untill I came across the digital watches made by Suunto.

I'm no addict, but when I decided I wanted a watch two years ago I think it was, the first thing I thought of was "G-Shock!" I was a little put off by the $100 price tag (being 14 years old at the time ) but I managed to score the G7100 on Ebay for about $50, which was then paid for by my parents as a birthday present, and it has resided on my wrist ever since. Luckily, it appears to be one of the smaller G-Shocks, since I have pencil-thin wrists. :p

If this one dies, gets broken (I don't see either of these happening ) or goes missing, I will most definitely buy a new one to replace it.

I like this set up, it is very light and comfortable.

The 5600 is a classic, good looking, functional watch, I almost picked one of them up instead. Still may have to... :rolleyes:

Hi Steve - that is an exeptional good looking 5600, indeed. I like the strap adapters they look good and that grey strap is tops too.
I almost fell for the 5600 model - hundreds to choose from - but I'll wait until Casio releases a Multi Band 5 model... Waiting, waiting, waiting........

I'm waiting too! I have the G-5600 Tough Solar, but would love to have atomic timekeeping too.

yeah love my g-shock never saw this thread my wife found it and said i bought mine because of this thread but great thread and very good watch i like that i sets it's self everday :D

I love my Frogman so much, it's the best watch I've ever owned! And, since it's solar, no more battery worries!

I've got mine on right now at work. I don't know the model, but it's served me well since acquiring it through a trade with squad314.

Anyone here have a picture of the limited edition Casio G Shock MRG130?

I have a CASIO G-SHOCK,that i won in a writing competition.
it is tough as nails.
I used to skateboard with it and taking falls,it took a beating,but workes fine still.
I see it costs about the same as a D4,in price comparison.
Anyway the G shock is still breathing.i must say some of these watches have a real tactical appeal to them.will go well with a paramilitary Spydie.

It is mud, dust, and water resistant! If you don't have it, get it! It will do $150 worth of damage to your wallet, and budget, but worth every penny!

Had one for three days, a solar/atomic combo: for those three days, I didn't wake up on time, because the alarm isn't loud enough. Switched to an Ironman USB (admittedly, a very crap, poorly-made item) but at least it wakes me up and has lots of alarm/appointment settings.

When i get a new high-end phone that syncs with my Mac, I'll keep it by my bed for alarm tasks and switch to a nice analogue watch again.

yeah, basically, with a g shock, all you will have to worry about is about the battery... and now that they come with at 10 year battery and even tough solar (solar rechargeable) you practically don’t even have to worry about that either. I’ve seriously thrown a g shock from a 4th floor for shits a giggles and nothing. Still ticking... Their older brothers, Protrek Watches, are way cool too! These come in titanium, with digital compass, altimeter, temperature gauge the works...
