Stretch XL SE, what else could it be? :beaming-face

Took it on a nice trailrun in the woods - in the area I was running today, there is that little hut which has "rack" for three bottles of beer in front. I think the hut belongs to a church, and the deacon refills beer bottles whenever he finds time.

So sometimes when one gets thereall three are empty, sometimes all full and everything in between.

One can grab and drink one, but is supposed to put the empty bottle back and leave some money underneath it, which goes to charity...

That’s pretty awesome!

Nice!... but Rick, is that really you? :beaming-face ... Not one of your typical "Rick-pics" (and Rick knives...) at all... :smirk
Gotta keep you guys on your toes! That's been my go to at home knife for a few months now. Carry it in my sweats or athletic shorts.

Your pic and story behind it is awesome! Hopefully everyone does the right thing so that nice gesture can continue. Very cool.

Thank you! It's my understanding that modified knives almost never get picked for the calendar contest so any pics with this knife from here on out are a no-go for me. I am sitting on a photo I'll likely be using for the contest, I just enjoy amateur photography so this is a bunch of fun. I need to get more knives to choose from now haha, got a Smock, a Sage 5, and a CF Chaparral on my list at the moment.

Went for a run this morning before it gets to 104°F this afternoon 🥵

As usual, the ARK around my neck 🙂

Serious question for you, we’ll, as serious as I get…I really love that set up. I train a lot, like 16+ hours a week and on my run days I have to go at 0200-0300 to have time, so it’s always dark. I usually just wear a headlamp and don’t carry a knife as we live in a generally safe place and I’m in neighborhoods for the most part. When trail running I throw a small folder in my hydration vest.

However, there have been a lot of early morning break ins, carjackings, etc. lately. I don’t want to carry a pistol with me…yet, but am probably going to grab a Subway Bowie and wear it like you wear your ARK, just to have something on me. With a right angle light attached in the same manner, and ditch my headlamp if possible.

My question is, how bad does that set up bounce around when running with it outside your shirt? Maybe ok for shorter runs, but not so much for longer distance? I know from your postings, it’s seems like that’s your constant companion set up for a pretty active lifestyle.

I generally carry it under my shirt. Like you said, it can bounce around if it's outside of the shirt. I've had no issues with it carried under a shirt. When I run in the dark, I always have my Olight Perun Mini clipped to my shirt collar.

The Subway Bowie looks like a better knife than the ARK, but I'm not sure if I'll get one right away -- mine has truly been a near constant companion (~99% carry time) since getting it two years ago. Love this knife.

I've not had issues with neck carry, but I have played around with the "merc harness" method. This may be better for carrying outside a shirt, shouldn't bounce/move around around as much.

Carried this one towards the end of the week last week, but didn't get too much use. So back in pocket it goes for Manix Monday...4V is hungry!

ymmv, but when wearing running shorts or pants with a tied drawstring I can clip a Swick or Street Beat IWB and it doesn't bounce so much I find it distracting. I plan to mod a subway bowie to accept a g clip.

Alternatively I can remove the g clip and carry small fb's horizontal in my flip belt.

with regards to lighting I use a nitecore tip 2 placed between my fingers. extremely small and light with enough brightness and battery life to spend 3 hours running up and down mountain trails safely.
May you find peace in this life and the next.

I’ve thought about IWB, I carry like that in board shorts and sweatpants fairly often and it’s not noticeable. But, I typically run in tights (long or short depending on season), or Soffe shorts with no drawstring, so I don’t think it would work too well in that application.

I’m going to look in to the Nite Core though!

Shaman today, had it yesterday. Finally put it on the Hapstone for a sharpening last night. One side was 16dps exactly and the other was probably 18/19dps. Took the off side to match the 16dps side. Then to the 20dps brown rods on the Sharpmaker.

I actually tested out carrying FB's IWB in some russell running tights. I was curious if it'd be comfortable or not. Street Beat did fine, so I'm sure the lighter Subway Bowie would too. Drawstring is pretty important though. All my running bottoms have them - maybe its my body shape but if they don't have drawstrings they slip down too easily. Suppose I oughtta do more squats. :grin-sweat

Haha, man, I don’t have anything to hold my pants up either if I don’t have a belt on! That’s why I wear tights. 5’10 and 155 pounds doesn’t leave much room for a butt.

I have a little ESEE CR2.5 with a kydex sheath and an ulticlip. I may experiment with that to see how it feels in tights.
