In my jurisdiction, 3.125 is too long.
If 3" is the limit and it is infact a hair over 3", with the proper tools shortening it a little bit won't be too big of a work.
Here's an example: thread
I mean there are people on the forums who would be willing to do it for you if you lack the tools and the skills.
I was lucky enough to be at the Amsterdam meeting, and I made a commented slideshow with my impressions about every prototype. If you are interested, you can see it here on YouTube.
For the executive summary, my favourites were the Des Horn, the Techno, Fluted Ti Native and South Fork.

I looked at some of Marcin's work but this looked very "Ansoey". :D
That's exactly what I thought when I first saw the Techno. At least as far as the blade shape is concerned. Looks to be an awesome, stout little knife. :)

Great post Alex - thanks for the explanation.
On the subject of slip-joints though, do you think that the design could be adapted to be a SLIPIT - for all of us who can't EDC a locking blade? I wonder if the handle cut-out could act as a choil and thus protecting the user's fingers? :)
Dialex the Junior is awesome i especially love the angle of the blade from the handle. Is there any chance this design could see a wharnie blade someday?

Given that the blade appears to be over 3", would there be much of a market for such a knife? Either way, seems like it would be subject to the stricter rules for carry in the UK.

Ahh, yes the blade would have to be within the 3-inch limit for EDC in the UK - as well as being non-locking. Other than that I can't see anything inherent in the design that would make it impossible to EDC. :)
I am realling digging the Techno. Does anyone have the specs on it? Are those Ti scales or something else? Looks like that one could be a perfect EDC!
Then of course that fluted Ti Native is another must have.
If it is nearly as good as I think it will be, I will probably end up being a collector of the entire Chaparral line.
I really am impressed with the Manbug also. Definately will be picking up those for Christmas gifts and to replace the Ladybug on my keychain. (I have no problem with a slightly larger and heavier knife on my keys.) Love the Full flat grind. I'd love to know if it has the same blade as the Ladybug...thinking that changing the blade in the manbug to the upcoming ZDP ladybug would be awesome. I wonder if the final version will be screw construction and what the blade steel will be.
Man, that Wilson fixed blade is really catching my eye...but for kitchen use! Only I would want VG10 or S30v, as S90v is too $$ for my budget. But it sure looks like a Perfect kitchen knife!
I wish Spyderco would make some more kitchen knives.....

I can't say I didn't like any of the designs I've seen, But these were the ones that stood out:
TUFF!! (A couple changes I'd like to see are a lower carry grey or gunmetal clip to match the Ti)
South Fork (Simple, but looks like a great kitchen knife)
Vallotton (One change, I usually love having all 4 sides open to mounting the clip but this time it kinda ruins the look of those awesome bolsters.)
Ti Fluted Milli (Wish it was CPM S90V!)

IIRC the handle is desert ironwood, but perhaps someone else can chime in on that. I was talking to Eric about making more small fixed blades and this is a nice example of the genre. This Puukko will probably find a place in my collection, it looks nice but it handled even better. The handle is very ergonomic and I’m curious to try out a Puukko as an EDC. If only to see what the fuss is all about.

Only the Spydercrew would know for sure, but I've never yet seen a new model done as a Sprint. Wouldn't make sense, doing all the R&D needed to bring a new model to market, tooling up for it, then only making a few of them.
