I just got my woodcraft mule, and some black G-10. I can't wait to get started when I have some time. Anyone have any advice as this will be my first attempt? I'm not sure on hardware to fasten, and any other advice would be great. :D

First, amazing work by everyone who has posted pics.

Second, I'm thinking about ordering my first Mule in the Cobalt Special steel, and I've got two questions.

1. How does the Cobalt Special compare to something like VG-10 or S30V?

2. I notice that some people use a G-10 liner below G-10 or Micarta scales while others attach the scales directly to the steel. Is there any advantage to using the a G-10 liner, or is it more of an aesthetic thing?

Thanks,
Skywalker

This is a first for me. I bought the Woodcraft, blue transparent plexiglass and clear plexi rods. I think it turned out ok.
