And wow, Darkfall is already sold out in sample and tub volumes. I like this one a lot. Nordost is a serious contender too. Wow!

I don't know Darkfall. What brand is that?

I'm interested in what you think of the BM Lannville.

Darkfall is by Declaration Grooming, “Milksteak” base. It’s pretty bold, off the jar the birch tar smokiness dominates but once lathered the scents really unfold. I don’t know how to describe these scents, but I really like this one.

Lavanille is intense. I haven’t tried it yet, but I’m intrigued by it.

I think someone needs to invent scratch-n-sniff for the Internet! :winking-tongue

There are so many different scented shave products. Unless you’re there in person how are you supposed to know if you like the scent, or not?

Exactly!!! That’s why I’m trying samples. I had 2 I liked out of the first batch of 5 samples, and out of this current batch of 9 I’ve got 2 keepers already. At 4 or 5 shaves per sample, the samples themselves will get me a long way.

Samples are the way to go, if the samples are available. That way, not too much money is spent on something you don't like.

My intent is to go to my local shop on Thursday and take a guy with me that knows nothing about "wet" shaving (shaving with a traditional double edged safety razor).

The Futur is too slippery. I cut my fingers heavily at adjusting the aggressivity during a shave.

Had the rockwell adjustable but did not liked it. Much too aggressive even on 1.
And the sound was not good either.

If Rockwell I would try the adjustable with the different head plates you need to change.

I love my 1964 Gillette slim adjustable. When I get lazy and let some fuzz build up, I gotta whip out the open comb fatip to mow it back.

Been using polsilvere/iridium super stainless, but not even sure if these went the way of the Gillette swedes or not...

One day, I'll get an all stainless razor
I just used a ‘65 Slim this morning along with a gently used Astra Superior Platinum. It worked out real well; a comfortable, close shave.

Going to my local wet shaving shop, tomorrow morning. If all goes as planned, I will take a guy who knows nothing about shaving with a double edged safety razor.

My list to buy: 1 tube of La Toja Sensitive shaving cream and probably a tin of Barrister and Mann Barrister's Reserve Cool shaving soap (this should be called cold, not cool...very nice soft barbershop powdery type smell).

However, he has a Henson + in Azure (actually emerald green. It is not azure, which is blue). If he makes me a deal on it I might bring it home. He has a lot of new razors in stock also, and those might be tempting. I'll have to see.

Good deal. I’m envious you have a place where you can sniff tubs before buying. This morning I shaved with B&M Fougere Angelique. It seems I really like these smoky fall scents. There’s something about it that makes it more expensive, the “Fougere” part whatever that is.

Barrister and Mann is offering 20% off with code “WHODADDY” for a fathers Day.

Yeah, guys. I know I am fortunate in that regard. I have a guy at another shop that is the Yaqi distributor for the country. I got two great brushes off of him. I don't even use my other ones any more. He sells blades I can't get elsewhere, shaving bowls, razor stands, etc. There is another place that sells Feather blades and Buffalo Horn Shaving bowls. But, the largest shop is the one I am going to tomorrow. He prefers by appointment only so he can devote time to his customers. His main business is online sales. He carries Henson, Parker, Rex, and more. He carries a lot of soaps and aftershaves I've never heard of, too. It's like going to a candy store.

I found out this morning that Henson is finally coming out with the aggressive AL13. It should be available soon.

It went pretty well. That guy had never heard of this sort of thing before and he was kind of overwhelmed at the soaps (shaving and bath), aftershaves, razors brands and types, and etc. The owner pulled him over to the sink and showed him how to lather up and he had his first shave with a DE safety razor. Even though it was not an expensive razor, he said it was the best shave he'd ever had. We'll see how it goes.

Outstanding! I hope he realizes how fortunate he is to have such a great local resource. For me it’s the internet or whatever CVS/Walmart carry, which is not what I’m interested in. Not anymore 😉
