Great pictures as always. I'm on a pretty tight budget right now and I'm not sure when that will change. Here's my very short list:

Must Have
Caly 3 in Damascus - I was really shocked at how nice it came out. The bolsters are perfect and I like the overall rounded shape. The damascus pattern looks nice, too. I'm too big a Caly fan to pass this up. If needed, I will sell some knives to obtain this one.

Southard Flipper - I've been really eager to see Spyderco pull off a flipper design. I'm glad they finally were able to do so with Mr. Southard. The knife looks like a slender tank (as wrong as that sounds) and I really would like to have one.

Maybe

Chaparral Titan - Very cool design with the Ti scales. I'm not a huge Ti fan and my first Chaparral did not come perfect out-of-the-box. This would also have to contend with my Caly 3 for EDC purposes. Still, I wouldn't mind having one to oogle over and use from time to time.

The Tuff isn't for me, but the dimples look great. What's wrong with some class in a machine? Thank you very much, Wouter for all your much appreciated hard work. I look forward to your thread every year.

- best wishes, Jazz.

The dimples seem to be a very polarizing design. To me they just look goofy, unnecessary, unfinished, and kind of tacky. But beauty (or ugly) is in the eye of the beholder.

I believe the Nutnfancy term "Wizard of Oz" actually sums it up pretty well. The same reason I'd never carry a knife with a clip like this:

Image

I've actually been trying to pinpoint why I find patterns like this so distasteful. There's something about circles of varying sizes with no apparent pattern that is bothersome to me. I always disliked the Spyker too because of the holes in the blade. But, I like the ATR. Probably because the ATR's hole patterns serve an obvious purpose, and are aligned in a sensible pattern. The holes in the Phoenix, and other Viele designs don't bother me, because they're all the same size and uniform in spacing, not to mention they represent something very specific.

I might like the Tuff more if the entire surface of the handle had smaller, evenly distributed dimples. Giving it a more coherent, uniform pattern and texture. But I don't know. Little circles on this knife just looks wrong to me.

It would be very interesting to hear if there is a reason for this design that ties in with the overall philosophy of the knife, or something symbolic that it represents. Anyway, no need to blow this out of proportion any further. Maybe it will grow on me after all... but I doubt it.

Might as well jump on the bandwagon here....

Will buy:
Szabo folder
Street Bowie
Starmate
Air

Might buy:
Lum Tanto FB (despite the fact that I hate a FB with a hole its too pretty not to put on the list)
Meerkat
Caly 3.5 CF
Southard flipper (love the design, love the steel, need it to be a lefty)
Nilakka
Bolstered Manbug ( held one the other day, loved it. But I'm not paying $80 for it)

Probably not:
Foundry Carpenter
Southfork
Ti Native 5 (very nice looking knife but too expensive and not really something I would use)
Chaparral stealth
Techno (unless by some miracle a lefty version comes out)

Definitely not:
Ulize
Lil Matriarch
Nishijin Cricket
Puukko
Tuff
Caly 3 damascus
Orange Dodo

O>M>G. There's a Starmate...

I'm beside myself.

This is all I can think;

There's a Starmate waiting in the sky
He'd like to come and meet us
But he thinks he'd blow our minds
There's a Starmate waiting in the sky
He told us not to blow it
'Cause he knows it's all worthwhile

(Name that tune? :D )

Wow, the dimples really make for quite a change cosmetically for the Tuff... I agree with jabba359, for some reason I really like it on the Ti side (better than the previous proto's texture), but not so much on the G10 side... That blade is as cool looking as ever, though... Glad they didn't make any changes there (cosmetically)...

Like that Starmate and it has my favourite clip. I wonder if the production model will have the medalion inlay? I think it really needs to have that included. Either way this one's on the list.
