Worried that I may need to sit on my knife today, and couldn't think of a better carry. I hope it's not too squishy...

Ah, this model shan't be tarnished. I gift the Chap to people who don't typically carry a knife. I think it is a fantastic introduction to Spyderco.

Be very careful not to develop rust spots! You better wash it every 5-10 minutes!

Hello friend,

I need this knife to look unused in ten years. I use my knife daily 300' cardboard plus I leave it soaking in blood for hours every couple of days. Should I be worried? I heard that the thin blade of my knife may not be good for lasting 10 years. Is there anything I can do different? I want XHP to have very high edge retention with no corrosion, is this possible?

I want to make my knife twice as thick as I heard FRN is very squishy. Will this be okay? Can I trade my Chaparral knife for Techno knife? I hear titanium is thicker and stronger, will my knife corrode?

Help with sharpmaker please, I want to reprofile my knife to cut for many years will this be possible on the white rods? I want to sharpen my knife everyday, but don't want any steel removed because I want this knife to look pristine in 10 years.

Please help. I hear that the nails in my knife may corrode if I wash it. Is there something I can do different?

ETA: In jest.

ETA2: Greeting.

😳

Seems like I’ve missed something, and that’s just fine!

FWIW, a good knife (in even a modestly edge-retentive steel like 154cm) used to cut things for 10 years shouldn’t be anywhere close to being worn out. I do realize that as a group we find reasons to use a knife where none really exist…

Love how the edge goes all the way to the handle on this and the Resilience. I sharpened up my G10 Resilience last night and the build quality is really impressive for the price. Planning to carry it tomorrow. Haven't touched it since I got the lightweight version, but the G10 version definitely has a nicer overall feel to it.

i haven't bought a lw resilience yet. waiting for s35vn to be released. i plan on swapping scales out though when i get it because i agree that it's a great feeling knife. i also may end up skipping it altogether because i'm a little bitter about it increasing in price before it released.

the astute has just as good fit and finish as my resilience. actually, the edges are a little sharper, but that has never bothered me like it does some. at any rate, it's really a great budget knife. i wouldn't recommend it for you though, unless you're looking for a three finger knife. 😂 for the rest of us that wear m-l gloves or smaller, it's a great little big budget option.
