Re: Striving For a Healthy Long Life
I counted the longevity supplements and prescriptions that I take every day. Around 65 pills every morning, and around 15 at night, and the numbers are going UP. I order what I can afford, and I check to see what the research says about the supplement.
Now Putin and Xi want to RULE until they are much older using supplements, prescriptions, and organ transplants. THEY SAID IT! They want to live to 150+.

Just out of curiosity, have you figured out how much all of that costs per month? It has to be a lot. Is there a way you could cut down a bit and save your home?

Re: Striving For a Healthy Long Life
Thank you for replying to me!
The property taxes for this year, due next year is what the problem is. I have a bank account where I am going to put all funds for paying property taxes and not touch it.
I'm working in several directions. The home and car are paid off, the problem is the property taxes on the home, which are just under $11,000 per year. DuPage County and Illinois are notorious for taxes. I just negotiated the home and auto insurance to lower rates and I may even try again to see what a better than average credit rating might do for me.
I am trying to get renters into the 3 bedrooms upstairs ASAP. I started working on this last week and I am using networking at work to get employed renters, but I might try older folks too, and turn this into a retirement home of sorts. I'm 65, so more retired people isn't going to bug me at all. If I rent the largest room it would be enough to pay the property taxes. There are many people that may be interested, I just have to be careful not to get troublemakers, junkies, and thieves.
I've been dragging my feet because it is a bit of work but I am going to try and sell quite a few knives and pay off my credit cards. That will free up enough money to pay the property taxes. I am not selling any Spyderco knives. I think that I still have a few expensive fixed blade knives that do not make sense in using, so what am I doing with them. I want knives that I will not feel guilty in using.
Also, I am still looking for a job in technical support. The most basic job with my degrees should pull in enough to pay for the property taxes. Hopefully the job will come in 2025. I am expanding the number of job boards that I apply at.

Re: Striving For a Healthy Long Life
Naperville my friend,
Why do you think so far it has not been possible for nutrition medical science to create a safe and cheap pill that anyone can take that will allow us to eat and drink whatever we want in any amount and somehow control our metabolism to burn off all the excess weight...but with NO dangerous side effects to heart, brain, and other organs?
Imagine if we hsd such a pill. You could eat a gallon of ice cream, a whole pizza, and a box of cookies and it would be harmless as eating carrots and lettuce.
No diabetes, no heart disease, none of that.

Some of the supplements that I take, GLYCINE, work to make everything that they test it on live longer so I take it.SpyderEdgeForever wrote: ↑Thu Sep 04, 2025 5:37 amNaperville my friend,

Although not perfect GLP1s like Ozempic and Acarbose are pretty good. There are many other pharma products on the market that help too.
I take Ozempic, and so far it has helped me lose 30lbs. I leveled off, so what I have to do is eat less and burn more calories exercising. There really is no secret to losing weight as was said by another forum user in this thread. You have to reduce your caloric intake to drop weight. DRINK WATER! DO NOT EAT!
At AgelessRX I signed up to take Rapamycin and Acarbose for longevity. Thees drugs make male mice live 22% longer. Too bad I am not a mouse! There are human trials on some drugs to increase longevity in humans and Rapamycin is being taken by tens of thousands on and off label. Acarbose is the drug to take to help cut down on sugar and starches. BOTH drugs require a doctors prescription. I take a blood test at 1:45pm today to see if I qualify for either drug. I don't want any harm to come to me, and it is a gamble when taking any drugs, but I have followed longevity for more than a year now and Rapamycin and Acarbose are the only 2 prescription drugs I'd be willing to gamble with at the moment.
Will any of these supplements and prescription drugs make me live longer? Maybe. Maybe not. I do not have good health, so my gamble is to extend my healthspan, not lifespan. If I live longer EXCELLENT. I just want to live healthier.

Re: Striving For a Healthy Long Life
A daily multivitamin could significantly reverse cognitive aging by up to 5 years
Multiple randomized controlled trials show older adults taking a standard multivitamin (like Centrum Silver) had measurable improvements in processing speed, cognition, and episodic memory (the ability to recall experiences and events)
Far from being "expensive urine," a multivitamin can actually make your brain functionally younger—restoring memory to levels seen five years earlier

Re: Striving For a Healthy Long Life
Thank you. Yes I think based on the evidence you and others are right about controlling calories and drinking water.
Regarding the longevity supplements, could there be unforeseen dangers in how they may bind with organs and other tissues or have enough people taken them that this can be ruled out?
I remember there was alot of work in how to reduce oxidation of cells and how to extend the telomeres which some say limit life span.
Some years back I watched a video documentary where they did experiments with hyper oxygen chambers. The hope was that higher oxygen could help heal wounds.
Linus Pauling was supposedly taking huge amounts of vitamin C, much more than the recommended daily amount.

Longevity Supplements: Well, if they are poisonous or bad in any way I'd have heard about it by now. I tell my heart doctors about all of my supplements and I do my own research. My heart doctors run the supplement list by the hospital pharmacist. They only found berberine may cause an issue, the rest of them they said, no known issues.SpyderEdgeForever wrote: ↑Thu Sep 04, 2025 10:25 amThank you. I was reading a document today that said vitamin D is good for telomere length, and I get it in my Centrum one a day.

I tried to give the exact brand name, and listing on Amazon for all of the supplements above.SpyderEdgeForever wrote: ↑Thu Sep 04, 2025 2:58 pmDo you notice a definite difference in quality in various vitamin supplements brand by brand?
"NOW" is a company that has made public statements and tested their competitors saying who is selling real supplements!!! They bash the fake products, it's wonderful.
These companies are infighting. It's great for the customer.
Few of these supplements are going to have any immediate change in feeling throughout your body. If they were really powerful, they would be taken off the market by the FDA. I still think that many of them work. The research is there if you look for it using Google and ChatGPT.
It's not all fake. I would not spend the money if it were fake.

Re: Striving For a Healthy Long Life
I hope this is on this topic about healthy food and personal health.
Are shrimp and other shellfish healthy to eat?
I ask because I love cooked shrimp in salads, stews, and other dishes, but I stopped eating that along with clams (I love fried clams and clam chowder) because of news articles about environmental pollution making shellfish unsafe and because a doctor told me they are very high in cholesterol. He suggested eating healthy fish instead.

I've heard similar information. Within the last 30 days, I THINK IT WAS INDONESIAN SHRIMP that was banned because it had some kind of radiation poisoning!!!SpyderEdgeForever wrote: ↑Fri Sep 05, 2025 2:24 pmI hope this is on this topic about healthy food and personal health.

If you are going to eat anything, make sure that it is from a US catch. They did a show on 60 Minutes where they showed that even along the US coastline there were shops selling US labeled catch that was imported.

If you are going to eat anything, make sure that it is from a US catch. They did a show on 60 Minutes where they showed that even along the US coastline there were shops selling US labeled catch that was imported.
I'm not sure how much seafood is caught and still processed in or around the US. Especially canned seafood. My dad worked on a professional tuna boat back in the '50s, and the tuna industry was big here until maybe the '80s or so. Much of that industry left the US for places like Vietnam, Thailand, maybe the South Pacific islands, etc. Some fish products I've seen were sourced from an African country.
I guess there's still a fishing and crabbing industry in Alaska, and maybe the Northeastern US. Probably also in the Gulf. There could still be contaminants. Fish can absorb mercury, especially tuna (luckily, I don't care for tuna). Shellfish absorb contaminants as well.
Personally, I don't eat much seafood at all.
