I think every one should just wait and be happy when it arrives. We all know that spyderco never rushes any thing. They make sure that their knives, especially the sprints are perfect and what we are expecting. I for one dont really care how long it takes. As long as it comes, its all that they say it is, probably more, and every one gets to enjoy a new knife.

While I think the delay is fine and all, would it really put them out much to give us an update? I don't think asking for an update is in any way unreasonable.

I completely agree! For me the number one thing a company can provide is communication. What if someone is holding out on buying the other/another PM2 sprint? Heck, any other limited knife for that matter and they can't afford both knives. Now they are going to sit out and miss a knife that they could have purchased, but the company dropped the ball and didn't communicate and the salt in the wound is the fact that we may still be another 6 months out on this knife.

I do understand communication is a slippery slope and a message board may not be the place to respond. However, Knife Works and Spyderco have newsletters that they could drop a generic blurb in. This would not open them up to a free for all on the forum, but it would give the paying customers the info they need and in my opinion deserve.

I will add that anytime I have requested info from Knife Works they have responded with as detailed and genuine of an answer as they had at the time. I have not requested info from Spyderco, but I don't think we need to tell them we want info...LOL. There is a 15 page thread on their forum about a knife that doesn't exist!

Yeah, I made the point before that this is bad business because KW is being reactive instead of proactive, handling individual inquiries that would be reduced with a monthly or bi-monthly email update. It's also bad business because it is a missed opportunity. A preorder update email would be eagerly read by those with preorders and would expose those customers to the full range of existing and upcoming preorders.

Yeah, I agree! Seeing that this knife is way behind schedule, an update on this thread would be nice and shouldnt take but 15 seconds!

Beyond being pleasant to receive updates, it's actually a rule by the FTC that KW as the seller has to give an update if it doesn't ship in time and even offer a full refund. It's known as the Mail Order Rule. BF has a thread on it http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showt ... ou-can-do-!

An excerpt
What is the Mail or Telephone Order Rule?

The Rule requires that when you advertise merchandise, you must have a reasonable basis for stating or implying that you can ship within a certain time. If you make no shipment statement, you must have a reasonable basis for believing that you can ship within 30 days. That is why direct marketers sometimes call this the "30-day Rule."

If, after taking the customer’s order, you learn that you cannot ship within the time you stated or within 30 days, you must seek the customer’s consent to the delayed shipment. If you cannot obtain the customer’s consent to the delay -- either because it is not a situation in which you are permitted to treat the customer’s silence as consent and the customer has not expressly consented to the delay, or because the customer has expressly refused to consent -- you must, without being asked, promptly refund all the money the customer paid you for the unshipped merchandise.

Lack of communication is bad customer service.

The obvious answer is to start a federal complaint and sue the #^€+!~£%¥s, then right?

That won't help. They are too busy raising taxes and taking guns away.

I don't think you have to sue anybody. Contact KW and tell them you want a refund. If they say you agreed to no refund then remind them they are in violation of the FDC regulation.
I'll hold out for the knife.
